Zero Tolerance Adds QR Codes to Product Packaging
YNOT – Zero Tolerance Entertainment has become the latest adult studio to add Quick Response, or QR, codes to its product packaging. The codes will appear on all new releases from both Zero Tolerance and Third Degree films.
A QR code comprises a specific matrix barcode that can be read by dedicated QR barcode readers and some mobile phones with cameras. The information encoded within a QR code’s black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background may encompass text, a URL, pricing information or other data. In Zero’s Tolerance’s case, consumers may scan the codes with their mobile phones and be taken directly to a one-page website offering a “sneak preview” of the film bearing the mark. If no official trailer for the film resides online, scanning the QR codes will redirect the consumer to the studio’s mobile-optimized website.
Car Wash Orgy from Zero Tolerance and Taxi Cab Confessions from Third Degree will be the first to incorporate QR codes on their packaging.
“Despite being a parody, I was able to write some original stories and had a great cast to work with,” director Mike Q said of Taxi Cab Confessions. “This was a lot of fun to shoot. I am excited that consumers will have the opportunity to experience a taste of the film before purchasing it.”
ZT Marketing and Sales Director Marcus West said the codes expand the studios’ marketing reach.
“The addition of the QR codes is not only a technological advance for ZT, but a great tool to push sales,” he said Marcus West. “The customer has the chance to visit our site and either read about the movie or view the trailer. We have a better chance of getting the sale if they are further intrigued. This also drives traffic to our websites.”
