Also known as “SCJason” or “Silvercash Jason”, Jason is the marketing director for Silvercash and is someone that all of us at YNOT who know him are proud to call a good friend. He knows how to work hard and play hard, and is part of the top-notch team at Silvercash, one of the largest and most successful affiliate programs on the adult Internet. If you don’t already know Jason… now is your chance! And if you do know him, check this interview out anyway… I guarantee there will be plenty of information here that I bet you didn’t know!
LAJ: Jason! I’m stoked that you managed to take some time out of your busy schedule and be our interview subject this week.
Jason: Thanks, glad to be here!
LAJ: So Jason… how long have you been at Silvercash and what are your main duties over there as marketing director?
Jason: I have been with the company about 1 ½ years now. My main duty is traffic, but like all of us at Silvercash, I handle a host of other things from Webmaster issues, to promos, to show preparation… just what the company needs are at that specific time. We all just do what it takes to make things continue to run smoothly.
LAJ: I hear ya man. Very similar here at YNOT as well. When you talk about traffic, you are focusing on the Webmaster, right?
Jason: Our focus is and has always been the Webmaster. Everything we do is based on Webmaster needs and wants – from new site releases to additional revenue generating programs for Silvercash. It is all in an effort to provide the best tools and services to help make the Webmaster more money.
LAJ: With the literally thousands of affiliate programs out there, what sets Silvercash ahead of the pack?
Jason: I think the biggest thing that sets us apart from other programs like ours, is that we are very professional in our business model and yet maintain a very personal relationship with all of our Webmasters. Everyone here from Mike Price (CEO) to our receptionist answer all their own correspondence on a daily basis. I think for a Webmaster to be able to speak directly with someone who actually makes the decisions gives him a feeling of priority. It is very frustrating for me to be talking to someone for an hour hammering out details and then to hear, “I have to check with someone first.”
LAJ: Yes, that can be very inefficient… especially if you are spending that kind of time.
How did you end up at Silvercash?
Jason: I met Rob (Price) when I moved into a new place around three or four years ago. We just became friends and started hanging out. He introduced me to his brothers Ricky (graphics at Silvercash) and Mike (CEO). We just became friends. We are all into riding dirt bikes and going to the river, etc. so we hit it off. About two years later on the 4th of July, Mike and I were on a boat drinking a few brews and he asked me if I would be interested in working for his company. I said sure and a few months later I walked away from the position I held for seven years as a Production Control Manager, and went for it.
LAJ: Just like that huh?
Jason: Just like that.
LAJ: You talk about riding and going to the river… are you originally from Southern California?
Jason: I am from Monrovia, California, just east of Los Angeles. I pretty much grew up there. It was very interesting being the only white kid on my block. There were a few more of us scattered throughout the neighborhood though. I learned a lot of interesting things on that block! By 13 I moved to West Covina, California, another suburb east of L.A. I then split the rest of my teen years between there and living with my brother in San Diego North County. Lots of surfing, waves and girlies in North County… no problems fitting in there!
After high school I went into the Army for four years and when I got out I got a job making miniature filters for the aerospace industry. It was very cool. It was nice to have had an opportunity to do business with some of the world’s REAL players: Boeing, NASA, Allied Signal, and with both the U.S. and various foreign governments. It was very educational to say the least.
LAJ: Very interesting story! What a crazy transition you made from one industry into another. But then again, that’s the case for a lot of people here.
How did you explain it to your family?
Jason: They are fine with it. I don’t hide it. When you actually sit down and explain what you do, people have a much different attitude than they did going in. A lot of people do not realize this is big business. I mean they hear the dollar amounts on the news but they really have no idea.
LAJ: Aside from the Price brothers being a good “in” for you to our industry, has anyone else been especially helpful?
LAJ: You are a very lucky and fortunate man. Not many people are surrounded by so much support and positive influences from day one. That would probably explain why you always seem to have a great attitude!
Do you have any comments about the industry, good or bad in general? Give us some insight!
Jason: I think the industry is going through the stages of securing its spot in the world. What is going on is very similar to what happens in all industries – growing, downsizing and evolving all at the same time. While our industry is still in a constant state of revolution, we are finally starting to “cut our teeth” on a global scale. All of the credit card issues, government crackdowns, etc., just shows we are being recognized as a viable industry. If you stay the course and do honest business there should be nothing to worry about.
You have to take into consideration that people have an inherent fear of the unknown. To many, we are all “leather wearing, gag-ball in the mouth, jerking it all day long” perverts. As the industry becomes more public, people will realize how dedicated so many of us are to doing honest business and providing the consumer with a high quality and highly demanded product. There will be always be some negative issues to deal with. If everyone was accountable for themselves and their actions, we only stand to benefit from all of these public “growing pains.”
LAJ: Well stated. Any future predictions?
Jason: Nah… I’ll save those for Ms. Cleo. Is she in jail?
LAJ: Well, she should be for that ridiculous fake accent alone… OK, do you have any words of wisdom for the newbies out there? Or perhaps some of the not-so-newbies needing a refresher?
Jason: Network. Take time to meet the people you deal with – it goes a long way. We do so much business through instant messaging and email… if you know the person you will understand their words better. The biggest “hiccups” I have had in the business have been misinterpretation of someone’s words. Shake a hand, it means a lot. Say what you mean and do what you say. If you don’t understand… ask! Everyone knows what it is like to get started, so don’t go spewing about numbers that you have no way of delivering. You will lose credibility before you earn it.
LAJ: Right on! Hell, you were extremely helpful to me just the other day with my barrage of questions. I knew you’d have the answers I needed, and I knew you’d have them right away. Thanks again for it dude!
Let’s close this out with a big plug for Silvercash!
