This week we are proud to be spotlighting the one and only Evil Chris! For those of you who don’t know Chris, you should! He is an industry old-timer, dyed-in-the-wool Canadian and hockey fan, and very active in the chat community, and ironically is not the embodiment of evil. So without further adieu… YNOTNews brings you Evil Chris!
YNOT: Welcome Chris… why don’t you let everyone know what you are up to nowadays, and give us some of your history!
Chris: Firstly Jay, thanks for having me In The Spotlight… I appreciate that! I’ve been around this business for quite a long time, and have been a YNOT lurker and member since the old days back in the mid to late 90’s.
YNOT: Tell us about College Fuck Fest…
Chris: College Fuck Fest has been something of a phenomenon recently. What we do is we organize parties in real frat houses. We bring a few girls and let them loose on the action! If you’ve ever seen any of the movie trailers online, you know what I am talking about.
Every day now for the past few weeks, our offices in LA are getting phone calls from fraternities around the U.S. asking us if we can come to their frat house and film and shoot. It’s crazy!
YNOT: Well, I can tell you right now my frat house would have been all over that back in the day!
Chris: The best part about it is that the Webmasters promoting this site are very happy with the results they are getting. Conversions have been awesome and continue to be!
YNOT: Good to hear! So how do you go about launching these high converting sites? Do you do what many of the other affiliate programs do in releasing several sites at the same time?
Chris: We don’t release ten sites at a time because we want to concentrate on only a couple at a time. We want to ensure that the sites we release are full of original content that can be found nowhere else. Shooting all that exclusive content takes up a lot of time and resources.
YNOT: I’d like to know more about how you got involved in the adult Internet considering it was a very sparse place when you were first roaming around…
Chris: I have to go back to 1996 and my first 14.4 modem for that one. I just thought it was kinda fun downloading dirty pictures from the “information superhighway.” Then I started a couple of free sites and before I knew it I was getting cheques from Webpower. So I just stuck with it!
YNOT: What were you doing prior to 1996?
Chris: There isn’t a whole lot to tell! I had a career in the Canadian military. For 15 years I did that as a job/career. I had been all over Canada and most of Europe. I don’t regret a thing, as it was very rewarding and I learned a lot about life while in the service.
YNOT: Wow… would have never known! You must have gotten started in the military at a very young age then! The transition must have been a weird one for you, given that you had such a different career path from your late teens into your 30’s. Was the transition hard?
Chris: It wasn’t really hard to get started for me. It was all about timing. I was involved in the first paysite for Carol Cox in 1997, and her amateur paysite was an overnight sensation.
YNOT: Well you fell in with good people early enough on! Maybe that could partially explain your positive demeanor and friendliness on the boards.
So can you tell us what you like and dislike most about the biz?
Chris: I guess what I like most about this business is the feeling most people have that we all need to work together to make a lot of money in this business. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. We can work together or we can work apart for all the same clicks and traffic, and working together has certainly proven to be the most beneficial.
The trend I’m not too happy about is all of the spam and spam-talk. There has been so much spam in the last year or so, that simple announcements on message boards by known Webmasters are now being labeled as spam. I just don’t get this. Seasoned Webmasters know that announcing a new product or service online means you’re actively doing business and inviting others to do the same. Pro-active marketing and Webmaster spam are two entirely different things.
YNOT: You know, Chris… I can totally see where you are coming from. However, unfortunately there are too many Webmasters out there who don’t have the finesse of posting something to look like an announcement. Plus, you ask ten Webmasters who run boards and resource sites what is spam, what is an announcement, and what is blatant self promotion, and you are going to get at least five different responses.
Can you tell us about any other projects you are working on?
Chris: Well as some of you out there may already know, my beautiful lady Stephanie (Funbrunette) and I are going to be having a child in 2003. So, we see ourselves as parents soon enough! Apart from that blessed event, Stephanie and I are now running our own Webmaster board, Xnations at http://www.xnations.com. We came up with the idea back in the spring. We wanted to provide a different kind of Webmaster board where Webmasters of all nations could come together and do business with one another. The board hasn’t even been open one month yet, and we’ve already got almost 200 adult Webmasters on board. There may be a lot of competition in running an adult Webmaster board, but this doesn’t bother us. It’s mostly something we want to do for fun. If it becomes profitable, well that’s obviously a good thing, but in the meantime, Funbrunette and I are having a good time with it.
YNOT: There’s that good attitude again. And congrats to you guys!
What kind of trends and changes do you see on the horizon in our industry?
Chris: Jay, there have been a lot of changes in our business in the past year or two, and I fully expect more. Companies you wouldn’t dream would go under will go under. Smaller companies will get bigger, but there will be a lot less “whales” than before. It’s only through honest service to the Webmaster population that you’ll see the sponsorship programs flourish. I think you’re also going to see a lot more personnel changes. People moving from one company to the other won’t be surprising to me at all.
YNOT: I’d have to say I agree with you there. Alrighty then… one last shameless plug for you!
Chris: I would like to say that http://www.collegefuckfest.com is still a phenomenon of a site. If you’re a Webmaster who isn’t promoting it, you ARE losing out on some major found money!
YNOT: There you have it! Go check out http://www.Triplexcash.com, http://www.collegefuckfest.com and say hello to Chris and Stephanie over on their chat board at http://www.xnations.com! Thanks for your time this week Chris and best wishes to you guys!
