YNOT: I can’t say that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting you yet in person E.C., so I want to give you a warm welcome here at YNOTNews! By the sounds of things, you have a pretty amazing past. Can you tell us a little about what you currently do at Channel69Content, how long you’ve been there, and what you did just prior?
E.C.: I am the sales manager at Channel69Content, formerly known as Streamflex Content. Our web address is www.Channel69Content.com. I have been with the company for about six months. Before that I was sales director for a gonzo producer. I am responsible for content and pay-per-view sales and marketing. I handle solicitations, customer service, trade shows and related activities, and can be reached at eyoung@channel69content.com.
YNOT: What kind of content do you guys provide, and what sets you apart from all the other content providers?
E.C.: Channel69Content provides Webmasters with the finest niche feeds at a reasonable price, enabling them to retain their customers longer. All of our content is from Channel69 video, and is exclusive to us. Whatever it is, Mature, Tranny, Big Tit, Gay, Body Builder or Ethnic, we have all the most important niches covered.
Our “Body Builders in Heat” content is absolutely unique on the Web! Generally speaking, we have mastered the niches that work best, worldwide. Much of our content is from overseas, so you haven’t seen our models before. No matter what the theme of your site is, adding our product instantly makes it the diverse experience that customers demand. We are offering 50% off on the first month to YNOTNews readers as an incentive to try our feeds. You won’t be disappointed!
YNOT: Sounds great! So with such a decorated past, what led you to the adult Internet?
E.C.: As Tom Lehrer sang, “Give me smut and nothing but!” Seriously though, despite some vestigial exploitation, the product serves a purpose in society, especially for shut-ins and people who are not conventionally attractive. And it doesn’t pollute Mother Earth. I figure that if GM and ATT have no problems with the product, why should I?
YNOT: Very interesting way to look at it.
Before you gave in to smut, what were you doing?
E.C.: I was an account executive at an Internet public relations and marketing firm that specialized in blue chip media clients. After countless client reviews that ended in remarks along the lines of, “We are in the wrong business, the adult side is the only place anyone is making any money,” I decided to put that thought into action. I started marketing on the Web in 1995, and have never looked back.
YNOT: Wow. I was in a similar circumstance, and had the same revelation, but a few years after you did!
So, how hard was the transition for you? Any obstacles?
E.C.: My legit credentials got me in the door without any contacts per se. My only friends in the business were in other parts of the country. There are prima donnas in this business, and they can take up your time and be annoying. The only hard part of the business is to figure out who is misleading you. After that, it is easy.
YNOT: Speaking of prima donnas and misleading business practices, anything else you don’t like about this industry?
E.C.: Pop-ups!
YNOT: What changes would you like to see made in the adult Internet?
E.C.: I would like to see a crackdown on password sharing sites, illegal “free” porn sites and other content hijackers.
YNOT: How are we going to make that happen?
E.C.: Stricter age verification via credit card is a good start.
YNOT: What is your outlook on the future of the Adult Internet? Where do you see yourself in it?
E.C.: Like all economic systems, a shakeout will follow this period of untrammeled growth. Then consolidation will set in. The industry will be saved by amateurs doing their thing, and their fans. The voice of the people cannot be denied. Paradoxically, higher revenues will flow to fewer entities, but a wider range of entities will garner a broader, if diminished, revenue base. To paraphrase the British, “Keep your pecker up, but your expenses down!”
As my needs are modest, I am planning on an early retirement overseas, where I will continue writing.
YNOT: Do you have any newbie advice for everyone?
E.C.: Do what you love and the money will follow – but don’t quit the day job. Get some fresh air once in awhile, and stretch every couple of hours. Go to bed tired, not exhausted. Like all gold rushes, the riches go to the people selling axes, burros and mining equipment. But it is not too late to find a niche and fill it. I’ve planted a few clues in my other answers.
YNOT: I must say, you’re very eloquent with your choices of words and analogies! Where did you grow up and go to school?
E.C.: “I was born in New York City, if that will help you any.” – Rick, in Casablanca
I’ve been expelled from some of the best schools in the nation.
YNOT: Ha Ha!! What are you doing when you aren’t working or writing?
E.C.: I am a beekeeper and a student of Neolithic culture.
YNOT: You know… I think you are the first spotlight guest (and perhaps the only ever) into both of those things. Very sophisticated! Are you even into porn?
E.C.: I actually prefer classic erotic literature, such as Petronius’ “Satyricon”, Apuleius’ “The Golden Ass” and Boccaccio’s “Decameron”.
YNOT: Well… this has been a very interesting and exciting interview, E.C.! I look forward to meeting you in Hollywood, Florida in a couple of weeks.
E.C.: I would like to invite all my friends in the industry, old and new, to the Channel69Content booth (#808) at Internext. I can’t tip my hand as to what you will find there, but I do promise you some unforgettable surprises!
YNOT: Looking forward to it!
