This week we are spotlighting Brad from www.asianxxxcontent.com. Brad is an American photographer living in Asia, looking for the cutest Asian girls throughout Asia to shoot photo and video and bring to the world through his content site. Asianxxxcontent.com consists of strictly Asian adult content. Brad personally shoots all of the photos and videos, does all of the model casting and really all of the production side of the business for www.asianxxxcontent.com.
YNOT: Thanks for being our guest this week Brad. Your story sounds pretty interesting and unique. Can you tell us a bit about it?
Brad: For the past several years I have been living in various countries in Asia, shooting for both US publishers such as Larry Flynt (I was the main photographer for LFP’s Asian title, “Asian Fever”) and I shot for Barely Legal, Oriental Dolls, Swank, and Hong Kong Penthouse. I was also one of Hong Kong Penthouse’s regular photographers. I now strictly shoot for the Internet and have gotten out of the business of shooting for magazines.
YNOT: Why is that?
Brad: They take too long to pay.
YNOT: So now you are shooting exclusively for the Internet. Asian content is very plentiful and a very popular mass market. What are you doing to stay ahead of the competition?
Brad: We want to produce the best and freshest Asian content for adult Webmasters on the Internet. A lot of people say things like that but they can’t back it up. You only just have to take a look at our site www.asianxxxcontent.com, and you can see for yourself. Our girls, except for a few of the early ones, are all real Asian teens that we find all over Asia. These are Asian girls that almost no one else has access to. These aren’t the same few Asians in the U.S. that have been around for so long. In fact two of the famous U.S. Asian porn stars who have porn sites have purchased quite a lot of material from me. That’s what sets us apart. My original “Asian Cuties” series has always sold well because of these reasons. I feel that my girls are the cutest Asians on the Net. When Larry Flynt launched his new title called “Asian Fever,” I was their main photographer for two years and shot 80% of all the covers. I scouted and shot girls here in Asia and they bought everything I shot. Their people like our stuff, because first of all the girls are so young and cute. We also do very little styling and very little make-up. We start with really cute girls with good skin and keep the shots simple. We’ve got the most innocent looking Asian teens using dildos, doing lesbian and hardcore. Again, anybody can do a sell job, but the product has to speak for itself. A picture speaks a thousand words.
YNOT: Where are you finding all of these exclusive girls?
Brad: We run around to shopping centers, go-go bars, massage parlors and any place that you might find Asian cuties. When you buy our material, you are buying very exclusive material and very exclusive girls.
YNOT: I have been checking out your site, and I do have to say that the quality of your work is excellent. And as well, I don’t recognize anyone. Tell us more about your website and the quality of your work…
Brad: If you go to NEW SETS on our website for example, http://www.asianxxxcontent.com/dir2.html you will see perfect quality photos, none of which have been retouched because they don’t need retouching. We shoot strictly in digital on all of our newer material and never have to touch up the photos because of the quality of the models we use and the quality of the photos we take. If you go to the website and enlarge four sample photos of each girl, you can get a real idea of the photo quality that you, the Webmaster will be buying. I think that the website is quite simple and easy to navigate, with no sign ups or passwords or blocks which are used by almost all content sites.
We trust our material enough that if someone is really in the market to purchase some content, we’ll get the sale. We try to make it very easy for the Webmaster to make a purchase. Also, the customer can instantly download their photos or videos. Everything is FTP downloadable. Every girl we shoot has a photo set (100-200 photos) and a 20-minute video (which we have made into ten two-minute segments of Windows Media format), all FTP downloadable.
YNOT: What kind of legal barriers are you up against over there in the Far East?
Brad: As far as shooting in Asia, that in and of itself has always been risky because of the local laws in most of these countries. It’s kind of funny because of the great sex life that you find in Bangkok or Manila or Jakarta or any of these cities and countries in Asia with all the great massage parlors, nude go-go bars, blow job bars, etc. People have the impression that they can just come to Asia and find all of these great girls and shoot movies and videos, but it’s very, very difficult. When LFP came here to make some movies they contacted me to set everything up because they knew the risks. Another problem I’ve had with local laws is that I would shoot some photo sets and I would try to send the sets to LA or NY and the local authorities would grab them at the airport and that means good-bye slides. That has happened to me many times. Just a month ago, I sent 800 slides to NY from a certain country in Asia, which I won’t mention, and they never got there. I was only told that the authorities took them. Of course I never followed it up.
YNOT: What about the legality of asianxxxcontent.com?
Brad: As far as the legality of asianxxxcontent material itself, the Webmaster can be assured that our content is legal. First of all, I personally shoot all of the material, and I have the copyrights and the rights to sell however I choose, which is made clear in our license agreement. The other thing is, when you sell to Larry Flynt, or maybe Hong Kong Penthouse, they are so particular about model ID’s and model releases that I always had to have all of the paperwork in perfect order. If for instance, the photocopy of a model’s ID is a little too dark to see the face, Larry Flynt Publishing would reject the set. Think about it! A large publisher like Larry Flynt Publishing has too much to lose to mess around with one little set that has questionable paperwork. Don’t we all have too much to lose? Anyway, I got in the good habit of making sure ID’s and model releases were in order. Also, theft in the industry is a huge problem for us. Over the past few years I’ve had so much stolen on the Internet that I try not to think about it.
YNOT: Sorry to hear that.
Have you always been a photographer living in Asia? Where else have you lived and what did you do there?
Brad: I grew up outside of Chicago. Then I moved to Paris, then to New York, then to Hong Kong, then to Bangkok, then to Hong Kong again. In my early 20’s I was actually a stockbroker with Dean Witter, believe it or not! After a few years in that cutthroat business (no where near as cutthroat as this business!), I moved to NY to study acting and become a famous actor. After two years of auditioning (and getting no acting jobs because I sucked) and working at Bloomingdales and Bergdorf Goodman as one of those annoying guys that sprays perfume at people, I decided to move to Hong Kong. That was in 1988. Except for a few brief periods of time, I’ve lived here in Southeast Asia ever since.
YNOT: That’s interesting that you were brave enough to get out of acting after two years, LOL! Some of us take a little longer to realize that the dream just isn’t happening. So did your acting (or lack of) lead you to the adult industry?
Brad: Funny enough, sex drew me to the industry. When I first moved to Asia in 1988, I moved to Hong Kong. I was actually doing some Kung Fu movie and modeling work there but I started getting into photography and I’d take these little trips from Hong Kong to Manila and go to a go-go bar, watch the girls dance nude on the stage and I’d take the five girls I liked best back to my hotel and shoot all five in the same afternoon.
YNOT: Not bad!
Brad: Needless to say, the photos were very amateur and pretty crappy, but I sure had some fun in that room.
YNOT: Remind me to ask you about that off the record!
Brad: So, I would sell the stuff cheap to a local Hong Kong magazine and make some money out of it. I was just nuts for Asian girls and would just try to get them nude in front of my camera whenever and wherever I could. Originally, I would try to sell these pretty crappy photos to some of the big publishers in NY and LA but I was always rejected. I just worked on getting better and tried to get closer to what they were doing in some of the big magazines, like Hustler. I took a trip to LA one time and was walking on Melrose and looked into a boutique and I saw an absolutely sexy Asian (blonde) teen working with her Asian cousin in this little boutique.
YNOT: I can attest to that. There are plenty of young Asian women hanging out on Melrose.
Brad: So I went into the store and my heart started pounding because she was sooo hot. I finally got up the nerve to ask if she would be interested in doing a nude shoot and she said, “No, I don’t think I’d be too interested in doing something like that.” Well, I gave her my phone number and told her if she changed her mind to call me. Anyway, a month later, right before I left LA for Bangkok, she called me and I ended up doing a photo shoot and sold the set to Oriental Dolls magazine. She ended up on the cover, and she actually became a little famous in her own right. I think she goes by the name of Diona Dee and has her own website. So what happened is, the publisher of Oriental Dolls asked his staff who had done that photo of the blond Asian girl and they tracked me down in a small hotel in Southeast Asia and gave me an assignment to shoot 20 girls- solo, girl-girl, three-some girls, etc., and they paid me $30,000… $5,000 up front.
YNOT: So you were undoubtedly hooked at that point…
Brad: That’s what really started my career. That was my big break. After that project, I started selling regularly to LFP’s Asian Fever (two sets and cover per issue), Hong Kong Penthouse (regular photographer for five years), Larry Flynt Publishing’s Barely Legal, and Oriental Dolls – all Asian material.
YNOT: And then you made the transition into the Internet?
Brad: The way I got into the Internet business is kind of funny. I was standing around in a go-go bar in Bangkok, as usual, and the owner, an American guy whom I knew came up to me and said, “Brad, here’s a guy you might want to meet, he’s looking for photos of nude Asians to put on the Internet.” Anyway, to make a long story short he ended buying ten sets from me for $5,000 cash and 50% of proceeds on Internet sales.
YNOT: Some guys have all the luck!
Brad: I didn’t really care about the Internet proceeds because I never thought I’d see any money. I knew nothing about the Internet in those days, around four years ago. Believe it or not, those ten sets have produced many thousands of dollars. Best deal I ever made. That’s when I got hooked up with one of the large agents selling content on the Internet. But it all started with the desire to take naked pictures of Asian cuties. By the way, the name of my pay site is www.asiancuties.com.
YNOT:You make it sound so easy, and that getting started in the adult biz was a snap!
Brad: It really wasn’t hard getting started because I had income from the modeling and the movies. Getting started as a professional photographer, when I actually depended on the income from photography, was almost impossible. I literally starved.
YNOT: Ahhhh… so it isn’t all glamorous?
Brad: My father would always say, “When are you going to give up photography and get a job?” Sometimes a model would pay me $50 bucks for a shot for her portfolio, but you’re really not professional until you’re published, and that is hard. The same can be said for the Internet. To make it in this business, you really have to be in it for the long haul. It’s damn hard to make it. Even if you have a great product, that doesn’t guarantee sales.
YNOT: That’s so true for acting too…
Brad: You have to market your product and get visitors to your site. Asianxxxcontent can be the best on the Net and we think it is, but if no one comes to our site then it doesn’t matter how good it is. There are so many pitfalls.
That’s why I jumped at a chance to do this interview. YNOTMasters is really the best Webmaster resource site on the Internet with so many followers.
YNOT: We appreciate that! And I must say, this interview has been pretty fascinating, so we are glad to have ya!
Anything you would like to close with here?
Brad: I just ask all of you people who are looking for content to have a look at our website, www.asianxxxcontent.com. We would love to hear any comment or suggestion to make our site better! We’re shooting new material every week and we have monthly packages for sale of all new material not yet seen on the Net. We are not a factory. Our material is specialized and we’re very proud of it. We take great care (and have some fun of course) to come up with our content.
Presently we’re actually looking for someone to do some marketing for us for our website www.asiancuties.com. Mostly search engine placement, traffic, etc. Anybody interested please email us at webmaster@asiancuties.com.
