XXX University Opens Enrollment to Combat Piracy
CANOGA PARK, CA — It’s not reading, ‘riting, or ‘rithmitic that students of XXX University will be studying – and although the topic may be pornography, it won’t be sex that they’ll be thinking about, either. Indeed, the curriculum being covered at XXX University is piracy. Not as a “how to” but as a “how to overcome.”
Created by the combined forces of the Free Speech Coalition and the Global Anti-Piracy Agency (GAPA), XXX University plans to conduct seminars dedicated to creating an effective long-term strategy to combat the deleterious effects of content piracy. These seminars are projected to take place during the March 2008 Phoenix Forum, July 2008 XBiz Summer Forum, and August 2008 Internext Expo.
XXX University intends to use a strategy of “education, collective action, and lobbying” in order to achieve its goals, according to a press release from the Free Speech Coalition.
The support of Maleflixxx.tv parent company Sureflix Digital Distribution brought about the existence of GAPA, which president Caryn Goldberg believes will help content producers to avoid wasting time “reinventing the wheel.” Instead, Goldberg contends that “We need substantive solutions that will help the industry – and it just makes sense for us to pool our resources,” via the organization.
In order to help create a deeper pool, Sureflix has donated $25,000 to support the XXX University educational program.
“Sureflix has put their money where their mouth is,” opines FSC executive director Diane Duke. “And not just to help their company, but to help the whole industry through this coordinated initiative. They have encouraged other businesses to step up, as well. Thank you, Sureflix.”
The “Anti-Piracy 101: Covering Your Assets” series is especially sensitive to the interests of small businesses that may not yet have attorney resources dedicated to piracy issues. All seminar attendees should gain a greater understanding of piracy, how to protect their property, and what to do when piracy is discovered.
Included in the seminar series are workshops on Filing Copyrights, Tracking Pirated Content, Cease-and-Desist Letters & Takedown Notices – in addition to the likely-to-be-popular Suing the Bastards.
