X1 Orgasmatron: One Device, Many Configurations
By Peter Berton
DENVER – It resembles a black light bulb, but any resemblance to fragility ends there. Orgasmatronics’ X1 Orgasmatron is a high-powered electrical device that, when fitted to a number of sex toy attachments, is meant to bring the power of the sit-down Sybian to a much wider audience. According to its manufacturers, the Orgasmatron is not only handheld, but also affordable.
“The company started as the hobby project of our [chief executive officer], a quantum physicist who is known by his pseudonym, Dr. X. Treme,” www.orgasmatronics.com/]Orgasmatronics co-founder Alexandra Ars told YNOT.com. “Dr. X’s resume includes a PhD in applied physics from Yale, a math and physics double degree from Berkeley, developing several technologies from concept to application in the quantum electronics field and managing science research projects for the federal government.”
YNOT: How does the X1 Orgasmatron work?
Alexandra Ars: In looking at the physics of vibrators, Dr. X. Treme discovered that typical small vibrators like wands and bullets spin a very small mass at a high speed. This is perfect for stimulating the outer clitoris or glans.
The X1 Orgasmatron has a large mass that spins slower. This type of gyrating motion is optimized for moving a dildo attachment inside the body. This strong interior movement stimulates the interior clitoris, allowing for deeper pleasure. It also doesn’t have the numbing effect over time that high-speed vibrators have.
From where did the idea for the X1 Orgasmatron come?
One night, Dr. X.’s wife asked him to build her a Sybian sex machine. He became interested in the physics of sex machines, and after much experimentation with tubes, duct tape and silicone, the X1 Orgasmatron was born.
Dr. X. Treme wanted to create a sex toy with the power of the Sybian, but at a fraction of the weight and cost. The Sybian is large, heavy, loud and has a $1,300 price tag. The X1 Orgasmatron is powerful like the Sybian, but it is handheld and costs only $199.
The Polly attachment works with the X1 Orgasmatron, allowing a range of devices to tap into the X1’s power, correct?
Yes. The Polly attachment for the X1 Orgasmatron is the newest attachment and is open for user creativity. It can work with all sorts of plugs, dildos and cock sleeves as long as they have a flared base. It also works with the Aneros prostate massager.
Customers have the option to purchase a leg harness with the Polly that makes the X1 hands-free. We are currently in conversation with Aslan Leather about creating a custom leg harness for the Polly attachment.
What sort of market response have your devices generated?
Both men and women enjoy using the X1. We have had positive reviews of the product, especially when used with the Polly. Erika Moen’s recent illustrated http://www.ohjoysextoy.com/orgasmatron/]review is a great example.
Our new product, the Ambrosia Vibe, has gotten an overwhelmingly positive response. We launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to fund the manufacture of this new product last week and made the initial goal in the first week.
In fact, you asked for $32,000 on Indiegogo and have raised $46,328 so far, and the campaign is still ongoing. What is it about the Ambrosia Vibe that has people so excited?
The Ambrosia Vibe is a new type of strap-on that acts as an active sexual organ rather than a static piece of silicone. When massaged, the Ambrosia dildo transmits a signal to a vibrator in the base of the unit, positioned against the glans of the wearer’s clitoris. The faster you stroke it, push it, pull it, or suck on it, the more pleasure for the strap-on wearer.
The LGBTQ community has really gotten behind the Ambrosia Vibe, donating items to give away during the campaign, writing articles, contributing and spreading the word on social media, not to mention the various queer people who gave feedback on how the Ambrosia Vibe should look and work.
What are the company’s future plans?
It is a priority to continue responding to feedback from our community. In the first two weeks of our Indiegogo campaign, we heard from many people that the harness we were offering with the Ambrosia was not high-quality enough, so we connected with Aslan Leather, a maker of high-quality strap-on harnesses. If we reach our next funding goal of $50,000, we are going to be able to upgrade everyone who pre-ordered the Ambrosia with the harness to a vegan harness from Aslan.
We have also heard from people that they really want a bio-realistic dildo for the Ambrosia. If we make it to $200,000 during this campaign, we are going to give an anatomical dildo to everyone who pre-orders the Ambrosia Vibe. In the future we are hoping to partner with another company and start offering a bio-realistic dildo with the Ambrosia Pressure Sense Technology.
We are also working on the X2, again in answer to customer feedback. It’s going to be more ergonomic, among other things. I can’t wait for men and women to start playing with it.
