‘Would You Like Porn with That?’
OKLAHOMA CITY and HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. – “Free porn” took on a whole new meaning this week for two families who got a free side of adult entertainment with their restaurant meals.
A family dining at an Oklahoma KFC franchise got an earful of traditional “porn sounds” from a television playing in the dining room. Gerald Whalen said a wall blocked his six-year-old twin sons’ view of the screen, but trying to explain the noise to his kids proved challenging.
“I looked up from my plate, and we’re talking full-on nudity,” Whalen told KOCO-TV.
His wife, laughing, said she was afraid to look.
Another diner alerted the restaurant’s management about the scandalous broadcast, which Whalen said lasted less than a minute. He also said he believes the risque slip was “an honest mistake.”
“It could have been something as simple as a rated G-movie playing previously and, you know, [the TV] just got left on,” he told the TV news crew. “It was definitely shocking, but it was a good laugh. We don’t want anyone to lose their job.”
Employees at a Huddle House family restaurant in North Carolina may not be so lucky. Diners there are furious after porn played on the restaurant’s TV on Easter Sunday.
According to restaurant manager Jean Waddle, Huddle House’s basic cable service doesn’t include adult programming, so she’s not sure how the X-rated material invaded the TV. Unrestricted access to the remote control has been curtailed, but Waddle said she suspects a cellphone app may be involved.
In any case, she has promised the community she’ll get to the bottom of the matter.
“I cater to our community and I’ll take care of this,” Waddle told a Sinclair Broadcast Group reporter. If an employee was involved, “the community knows I will absolutely take care of that employee.”
A spokesperson for the cable TV division of Charter Communications said the company is performing a forensic analysis of the receiver used by the restaurant.
