‘World’s Largest Adult Production Facility’ for Sale
YNOT – Film Studios LA, called by owner Sascha Libido “the world’s largest adult studio,” is on the market. Libido, a performer and director who originally hails from Germany, told German media he will sell the turnkey production facility in a package deal for $475,000.
Located in California’s San Fernando Valley, Film Studios LA has been the site of numerous adult productions as well as mainstream endeavors starring performers including Michelle Rodriguez (Avatar, The Fast and the Furious, Lost) and Jareb Dauplaise (Transformers, Hard Times of RJ Berger).
Many adult industry insiders are somewhat familiar with the resources available at Film Studios LA. Three of the current AVN Top Ten Releases were filmed at the facility. The sets and stages have appeared in adult films produced by major adult companies including Brazzers, Digital Playground, Hustler, Penthouse, Playboy, and Wicked.
In 2010 alone, the facility received more than 400 production bookings. Many of the productions utilized the in-house design team, which created custom sets for several films honored during the 2011 AVN Awards, including the hit parody Batman XXX. In addition to the physical assets, many of the trained personnel plan to remain with Film Studios LA after the sale. The buyer also will receive the studio’s “black book” of contacts and clients.
A veteran of more than 1,050 adult films according to the Internet Adult Film Database, Libido founded Film Studios LA in 2005 in a single warehouse with himself as the only worker. Since then, the operation has grown to encompass five fully functioning studios with makeup, wardrobe and green rooms; offices; a set workshop and more than 10,000 square feet of stored props.
Why sell such a thriving enterprise?
“After many years of hard work I believe the business is now a turnkey investment, and more importantly, this transition will allow me to focus exclusively on manufacturing what I believe to be the most revolutionary piece of adult toy technology to date,” Libido said.
He has filed a patent application and recently entered into partnership with a German firm to develop and manufacture “a toy allowing real sex with anyone, anywhere, anytime.” The target date for release of the device is Fall 2012.
