Workshop to Explore Role of Live Cams in Sexuality
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Live webcams have changed the face of adult entertainment. The sector generates a huge amount of income for studios, platforms and individual performers, and the percentage of the industry’s revenue attributed to live cams grows by the year.
But the popularity of live webcams has produced an even broader effect on society as a whole: The medium allows people to explore their own and others’ sexuality.
That’s the major point live-cam platform Chaturbate will present during a Woodhull Sexual Freedom Summit workshop in August.
“The live-cam industry has seen a rapid growth in people from all walks of life going online to explore their sexuality,” said Shirley Lara, the company’s chief operations officer. “Chaturbate is a very community-oriented cam platform, which empowers individuals to be comfortable and supported as they embrace their unique sexual identity.”
Lara will team with Chaturbate broadcaster and LGBTQ Rights activist Kelly Pierce to lead the workshop, “Exploring Sexuality with Live Cams.” The Aug. 6 session will offer insight on the role live cams play in the adult industry, along with tips to create a successful camming persona and have a profitable experience on cam sites.
“I think sexual freedoms are just as important as any other freedoms,” Pierce said. “I love working in the world of webcam, which allows flexible hours, a safe environment and a live platform I use to educate my fans on trans-women.”
Woodhull Freedom Foundation’s Sexual Freedom Summit brings together human rights activists, sexuality educators and researchers, professionals from the legal and medical fields, authors, sexual freedom movement leaders, and organizational partners to expand and advance recognition of sexual freedom as a fundamental human right. The summit will take place Aug. 4-7 at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center in Alexandria, Va.
From June 10 through 20, folks can win free passes to the summit, courtesy of Chaturbate, by completing a form on the “About Us” page on the foundation’s website, WoodhullFoundation.org.
