‘Will Work for Porn’
YNOT – A new program launched this week by digital marketplace Extra Lunch Money offers users the opportunity to perform digital labor in exchange for credits they can use to purchase porn.
Credits are redeemable in the ELM market and may be earned by completing a variety of “micro tasks” ranging from flagging images for adult content to evaluating the quality of satellite images. The tasks are performed on behalf of third parties that outsource the work to ELM.
Chief Executive Ben Tao compared the new “Work for Porn” program to crowd-sourcing — with a twist. He also said the new program benefits both consumers and content owners: consumers because they can earn premium porn, and content producers because they are credited with sales even though the workers don’t pay money for the products.
“By motivating users with adult content, they contribute work that improves search results, helps companies create better products and even prevents unwanted adult photos from showing up in people’s favorite websites,” Tao noted.
