On Monday, August 27, 2001, a benefit dinner and auction for the prevention of child abuse was held at the Eden Roc Renaissance Resort in Miami Beach. The semi-formal affair was the highlight of the CyberNet Expo (http://www.cybernetexpo.com/) held August 24 -28. The event was attended by approximately 100 webmasters who paid $75 per ticket. Organizers PattyeCake (InsiteInvestments (http://www.insiteadult.com)) and Fay Sharpe (CyberNet Expo and Spanky’s Content (http://www.spankyscontent.com/)) did a tremendous job in organizing the groundbreaking fundraiser, while the auctioneer and Master of Ceremonies, YNOTBob (YNOTbob.com (http://www.ynotbob.com) and YNOTmasters.com (http://www.ynotmasters.com)) kept the audience in stitches, and the donations flowing.
The evening began with a cocktail hour, courtesy of AdultRevenueService (http://www.AdultRevenueService.com/), at the gorgeous Eden Roc Resort, which was just a short trip down the boardwalk from the Fontainebleau Hilton Hotel where the convention was held. The attendees perused the 50 items up for bid while sipping their first drinks of the evening (or rather, first drinks since leaving the pool bar and putting on their fancy duds). Items up for bid included: $25,000 worth of email ads donated by 4FreeBucks (http://www.4FreeBucks.com/); $12,000 worth of hosting donated by NationalNet (http://www.National-Net.com/); two “lots” of content and email advertising with a combined value of $11,000 donated by Python (http://www.Pythonvideo.com/); $8,000 worth of advertising donated by Klixxx Magazine (http://www.Klixxx.com/); and private dinners with two of the industry’s prettiest webmistresses, PattyeCake and Magick from InsiteInvestments.
A sumptuous dinner was then served, but not before the first lot was put up for bid to be enjoyed during the meal: two bottles of rare wine donated by WebQuest (http://www.cashquest.com/). The lot was won by JoeE of CEN (http://www.trafficcashgold.com/), who graciously shared his winnings with other webmasters who had placed losing bids on the wine.
Once stomachs were full with food and livers with alcohol, the heavy bidding began. Master of Ceremonies YNOTBob kept the pace of the live auction brisk and the bidding high. According to YNOTBob’s bidding rules, the scratch of a head or the raising of an eyebrow were sufficient gestures to indicate the placement of the next highest bid. Interspersed throughout the lot bidding, several large cash donations were placed, including donations by JoeE (on behalf of a close friend who tragically died just the day before the event), InsiteInvestments, SexTracker (http://www.SexTracker.com/) and AdultRevenueService (among others). Our apologies go out in advance to those who we have forgotten to mention!
Just one hour later, the fifty items up for bid were sold, and $100,000 was raised for the prevention of child abuse, way above everyone’s wildest expectations. Those spending the most during the auction for this great cause included SweetEntertainmentGroup (http://www.sweetentertainment.com/), CEN, and FetishBucks (again, apologies to those who we have failed to mention here). In fact, many auctions came down to a duel between JoeE and either Tom or Steve from SEG. Many “SSWWEEEEETTT”s were heard during the course of the evening!
Perhaps the most humorous lots of the night were opportunities to spank the luscious Little C aka Miss Claudia right there on the auction floor. Bidders paid up to $2,000 PER CHEEK to get to know Little C just a little bit better.
The evening was capped off with dancing to tunes laid down by the one and only Dokk (http://www.ynotmasters.com/wm_directory/profiles/dokkster.html). All webmasters present agreed that the evening was a smashing success, with all proceeds going to www.preventchildabuse.com (http://www.preventchildabuse.com/).
YNOT News has expressed this sentiment before and we’ll say it again, that it would be nice if one day, the mainstream media reported about the good social causes that this industry promotes and raises money before. Of course, if it’s never reported, we’ll continue to raise money for worthy causes.
