Webmaster Toy Run Seeks New Charities, Plans Expansion
YNOT — Webmaster Toy Run, a six-year-old holiday fundraiser that benefits underprivileged, orphaned and disabled children, plans to expand its focus this year and seeks new charitable beneficiaries and geographical locations.Established in 2004 by SexEntertain co-founder Michael M., the Webmaster Toy Run annually solicits cash donations from the adult industry in order to fund the purchase of toys, books and other holiday gifts by groups that serve children who lead difficult lives due to illness, family situation or financial circumstances. Over the years the cause has been supported by several dozen leading adult entertainment companies and more than 650 individual webmasters and industry professionals.
Now the organization solicits input from industry professionals about where and how to distribute the donations.
“Initially we wanted to bring a little joy to underprivileged, orphaned and disabled children by arranging a nice holiday gift for them,” Michael M. said. “We contacted several state-run and private organizations and were able to drop off toys to the children face-to-face. Being able to bring a smile to a child that has been needlessly suffering is a truly rewarding experience, and well worth the effort we put into this fundraising challenge. Our efforts are expanding with grants and soon scholarships.”
Industry professionals are encouraged to suggest new organizations with which Webmaster Toy Run may work. Michael M. said comments and questions may be emailed to him or submitted via the operation’s website, WebmasterToyrun.com.
This year’s fundraiser got an early kickoff this week “in hopes of beating last year’s thousands of dollars in donations,” he said.
“We recognize this year may be more challenging for webmasters to give to charitable agencies with the poor state of the economy,” he noted. “However, we are hopeful that they will still step up and donate any amount. Even $5 can make all the difference to an underprivileged or ill child during this time of year.”
Donations will be accepted until December 19th, 2009. Webmaster Toy Run is a recognized 501(c)3 charitable organization, so donations may be tax-exempt.
