Webmaster Targets Pop Singer in Porn Extortion Plot
LONDON – Diminutive chanteuse and X Factor co-host Cheryl Cole became a victim of her own success when a British internet entrepreneur who resides in India demanded she pay him millions of pounds in order to claim a domain he plans to use to promote hardcore pornography.Martin McCann, 55, owns CherylCole.cc, which he has decorated with fully clothed images of the 5’3”, 26-year-old singer alongside the words “sex, sex, sex” and a promise that “X rated [sic] pics [are] coming next.” Also prominently displayed is an offer to sell the website, which seems to be McCann’s chief goal.
“If Cheryl wants [the site], she can have it but only for the right money,” McCann told Bangladesh’s Daily Star.
He also noted he is willing to sell the domain to a porn purveyor. Cole reportedly has not responded to the demand.
The plot is not the first time McCann has attempted to extort big bucks from a celebrity. Last year he targeted David Beckham, from whom he demanded 5 million pounds as payment to cease producing and selling condoms named after the soccer star’s three sons. Beckham reportedly brushed off the demand.
