Webcam Performers Earning $10K Tips
YNOT – Las Vegas isn’t the only place to find “whales” — gambler slang for high-rollers who drop large sums of cash without batting an eye. According to one live-webcam company, online whales spend big bucks, too: up to $10,000 at a time.In October, Video Secrets raised the performer tip limit from $1,000 to $10,000. Since then, the maximum tip has been used about a dozen times, a spokesperson said. Affiliate Marketing Manager Jeff Wilson said he believes the company’s Tip Flood feature adds an element of fun and competition to the tipping process, encouraging both performers and viewers to up the ante.
Tip Flood allows high-rollers to divide their funds into 20 individual tips that display in the chat room approximately one second apart, filling the chat window with a flood of tip messages. The performers love the attention and work hard for the money, and viewers enjoy using their cash to help favorite models win contests and set Hall of Fame records. Both gay and straight models have earned $10,000 tips, some multiple times.
Based on the positive response so far, Video Secrets recently raised the tip limit again — this time to $12,500. The good news for affiliates is they earn 30 percent of every high-dollar transaction.
“Raising the tip max is just one way we’re continuing to evolve the world’s leading adult webcam experience for fans, models and affiliates,” Wilson said. “Having the top models online, optimizing every aspect of the user experience and working with traffic partners to promote first-class live adult entertainment is the path to success for Video Secrets affiliates. ‘Gamification’ is also quickly becoming an important interactive aspect of our content distribution.”
