Walter of TipTop Studio Takes Grand Prize in YNOT Grand Prix
PRAGUE – On a race day which featured a few ugly crashes and an aggressive ‘death match’ round to determine the winner of the fourth and final leg of the YNOT Grand Prix, Walter of TipTop Studio took home the $1000 cash prize as the Grand Prix’s overall winner.
In the fourth leg itself, Jorgen from PlugRush won the race with best lap time of 1:28.531. Second place went to Toner, while third was captured by KN. (The companies with which Toner and KN are associated were not known at the time of this post).
“The group we had at the race today was awesome,” said YNOT co-owner and race organizer Jay Kopita. “Everyone was very engaged, not just the competitors, but everyone who attended as a spectator, as well. There was business being done during the race too, which demonstrates the YNOT Grand Prix isn’t just a race, but a networking opportunity, as well.”
Kopita said a total of 65 drivers competed on the day, which he described as one of the most successful individual legs of the YNOT GP in its nine years of operation.
“As always, the facility was top notch,” Kopita said of Kart Centrum, the venue for the race. “They were very responsive, organized and helpful and kept things moving along. Everyone had a great time and the race was conducted in a very efficient way.”
“Kart Centrum is the most challenging course in the YNOT Grand Prix,” Kopita added. “I think that’s part of why the Prague leg is always one of the best – the difficulty of the track translates into great driving and exciting viewing alike.”
While Kopita had previously said this season was likely to be the last of the YNOT Grand Prix, this race has reaffirmed his faith in the event. While he still plans to scale back to just two legs for the 2019 GP, he now says he’s “definitely going to keep the GP going.”
Kopita also heaped praise on the YNOT GP sponsors, JuicyAds, BongaCash, Studio20, International Processing Solution and AW Summit, saying “without their generous support, none of this would be possible.”
