Vivid’s “Debbie Does Dallas, Again” Accompanied by Reality Series on Showtime
LOS ANGELES, CA — Debbie is back –with all the modern trappings. As it hits the shelves this week, Vivid Entertainment Group’s remake of the 1970’s classic Debbie Does Dallas – appropriately titled Debbie Does Dallas, Again – is accompanied by a multi-front media blitz that is truly rare in the adult entertainment sector.
In addition to an April 19 launch party in New York City celebrating the release of the new DVD, a seven-episode reality television show that chronicles the making of Debbie Does Dallas, Again is airing on Showtime this week.
Vivid’s refiguring of the cheerleader-themed erotic was directed by crucially acclaimed director Paul Thomas and is the first adult movie ever to be available in standard DVD, HD-DVD, and Blu-ray formats, according to Vivid’s press release.
As an added bonus, Vivid’s release of Debbie Does Dallas, Again includes a second disc with the original 1978 version starring Bambi Woods. A bonus disc with behind-the-scenes footage, photo galleries and “scenes from previous Vivid remakes of the original,” according to the company’s press release.
Vivid will officially mark the movie’s launch with a party this Thursday, April 19th at the Club Ultra in New York City. The party is private from 8:00pm – 10:00pm, after which it will be open to the public. Vivid girls Monique Alexander and Savanna Samson, who star in Debbie Does Dallas, Again, will make personal appearances at the party, according to the Vivid press release.
Simultaneously, the Showtime reality series that documents the making of Debbie Does Dallas, Again and a “parallel version” directed by Vivid-Alt director Eon McKai, is set to air its seventh and final episode.
“The popular reality series chronicles the struggle to assemble a cast for the film and seemingly unending drama during its shooting,” Vivid states in its press release.
Thomas, who Vivid identifies in their release as the “most award-winning director in the history of adult entertainment,” said that his version, which has already been awarded AVN magazine’s top rating of AAAAA, is superior to the 1978 classic.
“My Debbie compares favorably in every department to the original,” Thomas said. “While both have great live locations, the script of this version is more interesting, the female actresses are gorgeous and better actors, and they titillate and tease, making the sex scenes much hotter. It ranks as one of the best comedy films I’ve done, with great performances, unmatched production values and wonderful inventiveness.”
The biggest difference between the Debbie of the late 70’s and the 2007 Debbie, Thomas said, is that the modern Debbie just plain looks better, as a visual product.
“Most important,” said Thomas, “is that our movie is far superior visually since we were shooting with the today’s advanced technology.”
