Virtual Kink
SAN FRANCISCO – On Thursday, Kink.com will throw open the doors to a brand-new dungeon … in cyberspace. A welcome party is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. PT Thursday in the online venue, which represents a scale model of the Victorian Upper Floor inside Kink.com’s infamous San Francisco Armory headquarters.
Chief Executive Officer Peter Acworth said his studio worked in partnership with the virtual world developers at Vancouver-based Red Light Center to create the destination, which offers a true-to-life array of play spaces, performance spaces and equipment.
“What Red Light Center designed for us is amazing,” said Kink.com’s Robert Levy, who helped develop the project. “This will be the first chance many of our members have to enter our world. We’re really excited to be able to expand the fantasy.
“Kink.com is more than a network of porn sites — it’s a culture,” he added. “I think we’re all looking at a unique opportunity to enhance the Kink experience by creating a virtual environment that will allow enthusiasts, employees, models and directors all to interact with the fetish community.”
Red Light Center, which comprises a large virtual world devoted to diverse adult play, boasts more than 12 million registered members, Levy said. Loosely based on Amsterdam’s Red Light District, the space offers a surprisingly eclectic, immersive experience, especially for those interested in or curious about so-called alternative lifestyles.
“We’re thrilled to open VirtualKink here,” said Red Light Center’s Zak Zarry. “Kink is the largest fetish entertainment company in the world, and this is something a lot of Red Light Center users have been waiting for.”
