Video-chat Software Adds Virtual Private Rooms
MONTREAL – An upgrade to commercial software developed to power adult webcam sites adds new features for webmasters, models and consumers.
LiveCamNetwork, a division of Montreal-based 2much.net, this week introduced its new Virtual Private Rooms, or ViPeR, platform. The software automatically generates ready-to-market recorded archives of live chats.
According to 2much owner Mark Prince, ViPeR essentially is a video-on-demand solution customized for the live-cam market. Coupled with LCN’s performer sharing feature, ViPeR presents a potential new revenue source for models and webcam sites.
“The performers on most webcam systems don’t get to keep the rights to their content, model name or pictures,” Prince said. “They don’t get paid for future viewings of recorded chat sessions. On ViPeR, they get paid for as long as their archive is getting views. The more content they generate, the more is watched and the more sales are made.”
LiveCamNetwork Media and Model Manager Brookelynne Briar said the residual revenue will come in handy for webcam models, many of whom are college students. Briar began her adult industry career as a webcam model in order to pay tuition, but she quickly realized a full class load left little time for live performances.
“I was able to support myself with the camming and the residuals from my archives,” she said. “At least I didn’t have to put in 40 hours a week at a fast-food factory.”
2much offers ViPeR as part of its complete live-chat solution, as a plug-in for existing installations and as a standalone product. For more information, visit 2much.net/viper.php.
