‘Type of Action’ Most Often Determines Porn-watching Decisions
HILLSBOROUGH, NC – Whether they’re buying the latest big-budget adult DVD or watching free content online, adult viewers frequently pick their porn based on the predominant action in the flick. That’s the conclusion adult retailer Adam & Eve reached after surveying 1,000 Americans aged 18 and up for the latest installment in the company’s continuing study of Americans’ sexual attitudes and practices.
According to the survey, which allowed multiple responses per participant:
- 40 percent of porn viewers are swayed by the type of action depicted in the film
- 25 percent of respondents said storyline influences them.
- 21 percent said they decide based on price.
- 18 percent said the title affects their decision.
- 7 percent said they consider the number of scenes.
“It’s interesting to note that even with the amount of free content online, adults are still purchasing movies based on storyline,” said Adam & Eve’s resident sexpert, Dr. Kat Van Kirk. “What we are seeing is adult viewers who can pick and choose their content according to mood, taste and budget.”
While the survey hints that certain types of sexual action may be more popular than others, the study did not ask viewers to specify the type of action they prefer.
The web-based survey was conducted by an independent third-party survey on Adam & Eve’s behalf.
