Twitter Lite Expands to 21 New Emerging Markets, 45 Total
Twitter recently announced that its space- and data-friendly Twitter Lite app is expanding to 21 more countries, bumping its availability up to more than 45 nation states in total.
Twitter Lite was introduced in 2017 with the goal of bringing in more users from emerging markets. Like other data-saving apps (e.g. Facebook Lite, YouTube Go, etc.), Twitter Lite is designed to load faster on slower networks while still working in a manner similar to the app’s full version. Twitter Lite also takes up less phone space and updates automatically.
According to TechCrunch, Twitter’s hope is that by addressing the needs of low-bandwith users in international markets, the company could help increase its overall user base, which has remained fairly stagnant.
Here’s the thing: For better and often for worse, Twitter is still *the* space for adult social media interactions. Though uneven in its community guidelines enforcement and somewhat discriminatory to users who are also members of the adult entertainment community, Twitter is still relatively porn friendly. It’s a place for fans to reach adult industry entities and personalities directly, as well as a place for the industry itself to hash out many issues – also, for better and often for worse.
For instance, when performer Amber Chase recently drafted a “Statement of Consent,” many voices weighed in via Twitter. Here are just a few comments from the conversation:
I think this is an AWESOME concept @FSCArmy @apacsocial @FetishDirector @itsLotusLain @emrazz @AngieRowntree @DrChauntelle Amber Chase Releases 'Consent Document' | AVN https://t.co/81FeqLwLev

I think it is really important, especially because of incidents where people clearly had different concept of "rough sex" & there were problems. So distinctions like regular blowjob vs. facefucking, yes/No on facial, No on specific words, etc. need to be agreed to beforehand.

Not to be direct but It should not take 2 years to draft something so simple. I first brought this to people who are in positions of advocacy 12-23-2016 including FSC. I drafted my consent document in an afternoon; there have been many incidents since I first emailed this doc pic.twitter.com/fXp4vvb8u5

This example discussion went in many directions, from positive and constructive hash out to blaming in buck passing, all in a matter of hours! For as frustrating as Twitter talk can be, there is also a lot to be learned in discussions such as these — and they happen almost daily within our community.
So, put simply, we need Twitter. Expanded access to the platform via Twitter Lite will certainly help increase access to consumers. Even more significantly though, we may also reach more community members around the world.
Twitter Lite is now available in Argentina, Belarus, Dominican Republic, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Morocco, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Romania, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, Uruguay, Yemen, and Zimbabwe. Many of these are key countries that are home to many community members.
These new places join the markets where Twitter Lite has been available, including Algeria, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Egypt, Israel, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Malaysia, Nigeria, Nepal, Panama, Peru, Serbia, El Salvador, South Africa, Thailand, Tunisia, Tanzania and Venezuela, in addition to the Philippines. Like the new places Twitter Lite has added, same same.
Twitter Lite is available as a free download on Google Play.
