TrickPics: Now Your Privates Can Go Public
Who would’ve expected a porn tube site to take an interest in helping spare people the embarrassment that accompanies sexted images gone astray?
Considering the site is Pornhub, perhaps everyone should have expected the unexpected.
In mid-April, the company quietly debuted a new iOS app designed to make nude selfies more interesting, if not entirely SFW. According to the app’s description, TrickPics is “the newest way to transform your boring old photos into something special! Our app uses augmented-reality filters to add a dash of fun to your images.”
Understandably, both the description and the screenshots on the product page are vague, and the app is credited to developer ENJOYIT360 SL. Both bits of subterfuge likely are designed to get around Apple’s notorious distaste for anything remotely connected to porn.
Make no mistake, though: Pornhub does not intend for the poor little thing to be known as a bastard child. The company claims the app as its progeny in a video posted on YouTube.
Though one might be forgiven for suspecting Pornhub may have an ulterior motive in distributing a nude selfie app, the company claims the product has no deeper significance than providing a bit of fun. All images are saved to the user’s phone, where they are safe from prying eyes, according to Pornhub.
To encourage users to try the app, Pornhub offers a free premium membership trial to anyone who shares a TrickPics image on a social network and tags #Pornhub. (The company refers to the offer as “becoming a Pornhub brand ambassador.”)
TrickPics includes 15 filters with catchy names like “bigguns” (Gatling gun pasties), “big blimpin’” (propeller pasties), “trouser-snake” (a cobra to cover a guy’s junk), “dick-in-a-box” (thank you, Saturday Night Live), “dicktator” (one can only imagine) and some unnamed something involving a champagne bottle.
A 959-megabyte download, the app is free. Pornhub indicated new features including video support and additional stickers are coming soon.
