Trent Reznor Tweet Announces Banned App Now iPhone Available
CUPERTINO, CA — A recent Tweet by Trent Reznor has announced that he and his Nine Inch Nails are finally able to fuck iPhone users like an animal. In an update posted by Reznor at 10:10 am on May 7th via TweetDeck to Twitter.com, Reznor stated that “NEWS FLASH: Apple has approved the NIN iPhone app update. Should be live in a few hours.”
A short time later, Reznor updated his comment to include “The NIN iPhone app is unchanged, the ‘issues’ seem to have been resolved.”
According to Apple, which had initially rejected the app update with a generic form letter, the “issues” appear to be related to the possibility of “obscene, pornographic, offensive or defamatory content or materials” found in the update.
Ironically, much of the same material and more is available for download from the iTunes store.
A quick trip through the iPhone App page on May 11th revealed that the update to the free NIN:access app is earning praise from fans.
Reznor Tweeted that his band’s West Palm Beach, FL concert was the first official test of the freshly updated app. Nin.com explains that the app update was long-awaited and much-needed, correcting a number of critical bugs, including one that caused the app to crash for many international users.
Although Apple reversed its decision without comment, some pundits opine that the move may be in anticipation of parental controls coming to the iPhone OS 3.0 this summer.
Other apps weirdly rejected include Tweetie 1.3, which would allow iPhone users to access Twitter.com. The reason for the rejection? Some people type “offensive language” on the internet — and iPhone users are apparently too delicate to be risk exposure to such a thing.
A Downward Spiral, indeed.
