Traci Lords Once Again Rewarded by Mainstream
LOS ANGELES, CA — Few adult performers have rocked the industry like underage porn sensation Traci Lords. After sizzling in a very age-inappropriate manner both in 100 now-illegal X-rated films and the pages of Penthouse magazine, Lords ended her porn career shortly after she became old enough to do what she’d been doing for years, moving into mainstream television and B-movies. Unfortunately for those duped by her intentional deception and later criticized in her autobiography, the financial loses were staggering and potential legal responses horrifying. Nonetheless, the mainstream media has been more than happy to reward Lords and is about to do so yet again.According to Reuters, Lords will join actors Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks in Kevin Smith’s latest irreverent comedy, Zack & Miri Make a Porno.
In addition to Rogen and Banks, who will play the title roles as childhood pals who decide to make a porn video in order to escape debt but ultimately fall in love, of-age adult performer Katie Morgan, The Office co-star Craig Robinson, Clerks Jeff Anderson, Beautiful People Ricky Mabe, and Smith sidekick Jason Mewes will join the cast.
Shooting for the Weinstein Co./Dimension Films project is expected to begin production today.
Lords’ decision to use an older friend’s ID in order to procure legal documentation for her illegal activity ultimately cost the adult industry millions of dollars and inspired a Justice Department investigation that declared all but one of her videos to be illegal. Although Lords insisted in her autobiography that her lies ultimately made more money for the industry by drawing attention to it, shop owners found themselves removing hundreds of thousands of videotapes, films, and magazines in order to avoid being prosecuted for trafficking in child porn.
When it was discovered that the fake ID Lords used to get into porn was a U.S. passport, the Justice Department dropped all charges.
In spite of the fact that Lords insists she was manipulated by and loathes the adult industry, she ultimately changed her name legally from Nora Louise Kuzma to Traci Elizabeth Lords. Since being forced out of adult, Lords has appeared in films including Virtuosity, Not of This Earth, Cry-Baby, and Blade, as well as television programs such as Gilmore Girls, Roseanne, Melrose Place, and Andy Barker, P.I.
