Too Hot for Social Media? Just Right for New Revenue Generator
PHOENIX – Tired of having social media image posts tagged for removal — or worse, removed without notice? A new website and related app may provide an answer…and let performers, models and photographers generate revenue while promoting themselves and their work.
Developed and released by Lightspeed Media, 2Hot4FB is designed to spare 2Hot4FB users the indignity of offending the morality police and suddenly losing their social media accounts.
“Our goal is to bridge the gap between the mainstream world and the world of erotica,” said Lightspeed Media Chief Executive Officer Steve Lightspeed.
2Hot4FB offers three basic functions and works on all devices.
First, easy-to-use, built-in uploading and photo-editing software allows users to self-censor their images by cropping or adding colorful stickers before posting. By posting PG-rated thumbnails, image owners can restrict explicit versions to only those viewers who request access. Adults must click through a simple age-verification process in order to view the original photo.
Second, 2Hot4FB.com serves as a content hub, collecting all uploads so photos can be shared to the various networks from one place. Support for posting to FaceBook, Twitter, Google+, tumblr, Pinterest and others is built in, simplifying the task of promoting across multiple networks.
The third feature may be its most innovative: It uses a free, ad-based revenue model, but with a revenue-share twist. All revenue generated from the ads is shared with the original content owner, with matching amounts given to users who send traffic. The system encourages everyone to share and re-share one another’s posts, as both sides earn commissions from every new view.
“2Hot4FB.com pays for both content and traffic, so there is something here for everyone,” Lightspeed said.
Early users of the app reported having seen as much as $13 in earnings from a single photo posted to Twitter. Adult model Monica West praised the system.
“This really is the way it should be — allowing girls to earn money and make the advertisers pay for it,” she said.
Lightspeed said, “We are very pleased with the system and excited to have a product that will help everyone who has been affected by the ‘porn recession.’”
To celebrate the launch of 2Hot4fb, Lightspeed and co-sponsor AmateurAllure are offering $1,000 in prize money to winners of the inaugural Search for Miss 2Hot contest. Winners will be determined by the number of views each contestant’s best 10 posts receive. The top finisher will rake in $500, second place will receive $300, and $200 will be bestowed upon No. 3. Contestants need only 10 posts using the app to qualify, and everyone will be paid all commissions they earn, regardless where they end in the rankings.
According to a notice posted on the site, “It’s the perfect chance to cash in on the social media popularity you’ve built up!”
Details and official contest rules are available on the website.
