And if you haven’t listened, now is the time!
If you don’t believe me, And Now We Drink just got the second AVN nomination of its career for Favorite Adult Podcast – voting is open now.
In a world of podcasts that sound the same and launch and fold overnight, And Now We Drink Podcast (eight years and running) is that rarity that’s not only fun to listen to but has actual substance – you learn a lot about the people interviewed on it! This is thanks to the witty and in your face, full of personality host Matt Slayer who not only can hold his liquor but isn’t dumbed down by it – he asks some of the most interesting questions out there, and he’s able to make guests feel comfortable so they give him their best.
In short, And Now We Drink podcast is always a party and one you want to attend.
So, this week YNOT toasts to Matt Slayer who has supported the industry for years with his special brand of humor – in addition to hosting the podcast, he’s also received past nominations for Best Non-Sex performance in the comic role in Joanna Angel’s Jews Love Black Cock – as we force him to answer some questions of our own about how he continues to entertain his listeners year after year.

What is your background and how did you get And Now We Drink up and running?
By the time I started the original version of the podcast, in 2016, I’d been working in adult as a roadie and P.A. for nearly six years.
Before that I’d done a lot of different jobs: I spent over a decade working for an armored car company delivering money. Besides that, I ran a small record label in the mid 2000s. I’ve been a private investigator. It’s been a long, strange road to get here.

Did you have any preconceived notions about those in adult before you started interviewing them? What have you learned along the way?
Nope, the goal wasn’t and isn’t to be strictly an adult podcast. Especially in the early days, my friends and peers were the people willing to suffer through doing the podcast.
As for what I’ve learned. NO ONE SPEAKS CONCISELY. NO ONE. Besides that, there’s not just one type of person in the industry and it truly is the island of misfit toys.
Why do you think your show has such a following?
Because I’m willing to take guests to places that other shows aren’t.
I try to have fun with it, I refuse to ask the standard set of questions that most performers have answered 1000 times. I DON’T CARE WHAT YOUR FAVORITE POSITION IS. Plus, my sex appeal is what brings in a huge portion of the 18-35 heterosexual male demographic.

What is the most difficult skill you had to learn to make the podcast a success?
Bladder control. Can you drink for two plus hours and not get up to pee? I can.
What’s one of the funniest behind the scenes things that ever happened on your show?
There was the time I hadn’t finished my cake sitting custom video and by the time the guest showed, I had to do the whole podcast with icing on my balls.
What are your goals for 2024?
To not die, get my own Fleshlight mold (that’s a thing people do, right?), and continue to bring ridiculous conversations with your favorite entertainers to my drinking buddies.
