Tiger King NFT Features Rachel Starr’s Blue Bikini
In a move that’s both “so 2020” and also “so 2021,” breakout miniseries “Tiger King” star Joe Exotic — aka Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage — is selling his first NFT collection from his prison cell in Texas.
Exotic is serving a 22 year sentence in Texas for eight counts of violating the Lacey Act by falsifying wildlife records and nine counts of violating the Endangered Species Act by killing five tigers and for selling tigers across state lines, among other convictions. The “Joe Exotic Official Tiger King NFT” auction will take place on June 18. Interested parties can place bids on the auction at https://mintable.app/u/tigerking.
An NFT, or non-fungible token, is a unique digital token encrypted with an artist’s signature. This verifies ownership and authenticity and is permanently attached to the piece. NFT popularity exploded in recent years and has become a lucrative source of income for viral stars.
Up for sale during this event are Exotic’s pistol and holster, audio recordings from prison, fifteen digital trading cards, a fringed leather jacket and a bikini worn by exclusive Brazzers contract star Rachel Starr on the “Tiger King” show. Starr and Exotic’s relationship goes back almost a decade, and she appeared in the second episode of the seven-part “Tiger King” Netflix series. The actual blue bikini worn by Starr in the program is included, as well as a 3D model.
“Being able to auction off collectibles makes me feel connected with the outside world, especially without my cats by my side,” Exotic stated. “Whether you love me or hate me for what you think I’ve done, there’s no doubt that everyone wants a piece of The Tiger King!”
Exotic teamed up with MORE, a cryptocurrency concierge, to set up this NFT auction. The auction itself will be hosted on Mintable.
