Three Adult Starlets Vie with Mainstream Celebs for ‘Sexiest Geek’ Title
YNOT – It may not carry the cachet of People magazine’s annual “Sexiest Man Alive” award, but tech-culture e-zine Wired’s annual “Sexiest Geek” title confers bragging rights all the same. For 2009, Wired lined up an enormous collection of reader-submitted nominations. Among the elite are pro gamers and game designers, tech writers and TV show hosts, movie and television stars, scientists and researchers, bloggers and vloggers, mathematicians, astronomers, professors, hardware gurus…
…and three porn stars.
Bobbi Starr — winner of performance awards from X-rated Critics Organization and Cyberspace Adult Video Review and a serial AVN Award nominee — is one of Wired’s anointed geeks. A former professional concert oboist, when she’s not making porn Starr reportedly is a pre-med student who aspires to be a gynecologist. More important for her fans, she is a prolific gonzo performer who also has snagged mainstream gigs like appearances in the 2010 Nerdcore horror calendar as well as on Spike.com, SlashFilm.com and gamer blog Kotaku.com.
“This is one of the most exciting awards I’ve ever been up for,” she said. “The other nominees on this list are amazing, and I’m in awe to be in their company.”
The other nominees include adult performer-cum-webmistress Asia Carrera and adult performer Belladona, whose nomination notes she is a rabid World of Warcraft player. From the mainstream, actress and singer-songwriter Zooey Deschanel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer regular Alyson Hannigan, The Guild creator and Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog star Felicia Day, and Danica McKellar, doctor of mathematics and formerly Winnie Cooper on The Wonder Years made the list. So did Digg.com founder Kevin Rose, The Venture Bros. creator Doc Hammer, and David Tennant, British TV’s 10th Doctor Who.
