The Show Must Go On: Internext to Return to Vegas in January
YNOT – Internext, AVN Media Network’s annual adult webmaster trade show, will return to Las Vegas Jan. 9-11, according to a midday Friday tweet on the company’s Twitter stream.AVN’s spokespeople were out of the office and unable to return calls for comment Friday afternoon, but evidently Internext will run subsequent to the annual AVN Adult Entertainment Expo, which is scheduled to occur Jan. 6-9 at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas. AVN Novelty Expo, formerly a standalone show, will run under the same roof with AEE Jan. 6-8.
YNOT also learned that Internext will not take place at The Palms Casino Resort, as it has for the past several years. The new location however has not yet been announced.
Although the tweet called the event Internext, earlier this year AVN indicated the show’s name, format and scope would change going forward.
“Internext is morphing into something wonderful!” Internext’s website still stated on Friday. “Starting in August 2010, the seminal adult webmaster trade event is being folded into a new mega-show called The AVN Show. Twice yearly, the new show will bring the adult entertainment industry together in a way that allows the individual segments to interact while also having their own space in which to conduct business. As the most dynamic sector of the industry, internet-based businesses will have a vital role to play in The AVN Show, and perhaps the most to gain.”
The AVN Show occurred for the first time Aug. 5-8, bringing together internet, video and novelty segments of the adult industry for seminars, workshops, networking and product demonstrations at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood, Fla.
As of Friday, neither show’s website had been updated, but AVN’s Friday tweet promised “full details” will be announced next week.
Update: AVN founder and President Paul Fishbein told YNOT late Friday that Internext will take place in January, but the location has yet to be confirmed.
