The Luxurious Career of Venus Lux
By Peter Berton
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Transsexual performer Venus Lux has been a very busy girl. Since starting her porn career in 2012, she has appeared in more than 100 movies and directed more than 50.
“Performing is what I enjoy,” she toldYNOT.com. “Films are what I love creating.”
YNOT: How has all this rapid success affected your life?
Venus Lux: This year has been very chaotic in a productive and exciting way. Everything has just exploded. All the attention led me to start on more of my own projects that will expand my company entirely. Tedious details are always in need of fine tuning, but I can promise these upcoming projects will be amazing.
How did you get into adult?
I was based in San Francisco when I joined the industry. At the time, Kink.com was seeking new TS models for their sites and I happened to be conveniently available in San Francisco for their scout to pick me up. I thought about it and decided to attend my interview and audition.
Next thing I knew, I was scheduled to shoot for their brand new site, TSPussyHunters.com, which is a site based on TS-on-girl, lesbian BDSM porn. From there, it just snowballed to where I’m one of the few main girls that perform for their TS sites.
When did you decide to transition from male to female?
Transitioning wasn’t something I thought of as a teenager because I had no clue transgenderism existed, nor did I know there were many other lifestyles that one could choose. I only came to realize transitioning was an option for me at age 19, when I met a transgender female who became my friend and guide.
I had always known I was different. I did not feel 100 percent myself in my own skin and didn’t know how to express myself from the inside to reflect how I look on the outside in a way that would be socially acceptable. Once I began to transition by dressing and looking like the gender I felt on the inside, my life changed.
Liberated was how I felt when I stepped out the door as a female. With the fortunate feminine looks I already had, it just made me confident to continue on and never look back.
What do you bring to porn?
Personally, when it comes to porn, you can call me a chameleon of sorts. My emotions and connection with the scenes, themes, storylines mold my persona to what fits my role in a way that would still be genuinely me, whether it be a cheerleader, stepdaughter, dominatrix or whatever. But deep down, I am a softy.
There aren’t many barriers that withhold my capabilities, but I will always default to sensuality, seduction, charisma, passion and versatility. Genders don’t even matter to me. If the connection is good, anything can happen. I truly like what I do and who I work with. My philosophy is to do whatever feels good. Porn has definitely revolutionized my outlook on sex, gender and personal interests.
What do you do to make your on-camera appearances as hot as possible?
We all know porn is, to a degree, scripted entertainment with some acting. What I usually do to make my scenes as hot as possible is try to negate as much acting as possible and exude the persona that is me that will best suit the scene.
Performing is and will always be a learning experience. You never know what you will discover about yourself next. I always make sure I get to know a bit about my scene partners before we begin to understand our limitations and get insight on what we can do to make the scene amazing and organic. Hey, we may be porn stars, but we are also human and we need chemistry.
Who is your core audience? Are they straight men who want something a bit extra? Bi?
It’s really funny, actually. My audience is always expanding and evolving because there isn’t much I don’t do. I get fucked and fuck guys, girls and other TSes.
My audience ranges from women and men to couples of all shapes, ages and sexualities. But I would have to say that my core audience is straight men who like mainly women and TS girls.
The men who like me are usually men who like femininity and women who look like women regardless of what they are packing. Regardless if they like to fuck or be fucked by a strap-on cock, I consider them straight as they are opposed to sex with men.
How mainstream is the TS genre these days?
TS is still a small genre compared to straight and gay porn, but like any niche, it’s always growing. Nowadays, TS porn is getting more popularized with the exposure on tube sites, media and advertisements. I see 18 year olds who are fans of my work. As the demographics are changing, the industry is evolving. It’s just a matter of supply and demand.
What are your future plans?
My future plans definitely include expanding my company and exploring all horizons to achieve success, with the added goal of growing my industry and genre to its maximum capabilities. Websites, DVDs, marketing and mainstream roles are all in my short-term plans.
I feel my goals are limitless. I’m very passionate about my career and business. I will always be working on a project or supporting an industry event. Making a splash is what I’m all about.
What is one thing few people know about you?
A main thing people don’t know about me, that I’m hesitant to admit, is that I’m deaf in my right ear from a hunting incident as a kid. Not very sexy, I know.
I had my first surgery on my ear at age 8 to help me hear better, but now my hearing is pretty much lost in my right ear as I’ve gotten older.
