The Fourth Law of Robotics
TOKYO – Nearly 75 years after author Isaac Asimov created the iconic Three Laws of Robotics, a fourth has been proposed courtesy of the adult entertainment industry: Robots will assist their humans with self-pleasure, except where such assistance would conflict with the first, second or third laws.
The proposed new law arose earlier this month after adult toy manufacturer Tenga and virtual-reality developer Oculus VR demonstrated a prototype they call the VR Tenga during an Oculus Rift game jam in Tokyo. The VR Tenga combines a Novint Falcon haptic controller, a Tenga male masturbation sleeve and Oculus Rift VR headgear to create a robotic handjob.
The ultimate toy for the lazy wanker has arrived, as demonstrated in this video:
Presumably, no robots or humans were harmed in the making of that clip.
A Huffington Post/YouGov survey conducted in April indicated the VR Tenga may excite at least a few people: 18 percent of poll respondents said they expect sex robots to be commonplace by 2030, although only nine percent admitted they found the notion of robotic sex appealing.
Males in the blogosphere seemed downright underwhelmed by the concept.
“[I]f you’re gonna have a robot work your dick, why not develop a virtual reality robotic blowjob?” KFC posted at BarstoolSports.com. “Why develop an inferior … experience? Just like with chicks, I guarantee I can give a better handjob than this fucking Tenga machine. Or am I getting too greedy? Maybe this machine just doesn’t feel like [giving] a blow job.”
Z-rowe, writing at Articles Upon Articles, approached the situation from another angle: “[W]ould this be considered cheating? If your girl caught you getting a hand job from a robot, would she get mad? It just all seems too complicated.”
