The Elusive Hub Part Five: Putting It All Together
Holy cow, where have five weeks gone? By now you should have your Hub built (See Part One, Part Two, Part Three and Part Four), so this week I will talk about the finishing touches that will bring your Hub live and what you need to do with it from this point forward.Holy cow, where have five weeks gone? By now you should have your Hub built (See Part One, Part Two, Part Three and Part Four), so this week I will talk about the finishing touches that will bring your Hub live and what you need to do with it from this point forward.
If you have been following along with this series then by now you should have a ton of free hosted galleries and free sites linked to your Hub. You also should have done up some of your own galleries to promote some of your favorite sponsor programs. Now it is time to fill the rest of your Hub up with some unique stuff that will appeal to those surfers that don’t really want to join a pay site. This “finishing touch” content could include live chat programs, dating programs, penis enlargement or diet pills, sex toy stores, video stores or pay-per-view content. Use your imagination and really do some looking around for stuff that you think will go well with your site.
For those of you who listen to The Porn Professors, my weekly adult Webmaster radio show that airs Tuesdays at 3:00 PM eastern time on YNOT Radio, you may have heard me speak to Tina from Video Secrets. If you have not looked at their program then I would urge you to do so. I do not usually include specific companies in my articles, but in this case the product fits so well that I don’t really see any reason not to mention it. The Flirt 4 Free program is ideal for a Hub; the fact that you can customize it to match your page design and even include your own logo is a great thing for you success.
Now let’s assume that your Hub is complete and you have brought it live. It looks great, I am sure, and now you need to pay attention to its maintenance and upkeep. Yes, for those following the boards lately, I have been terrible recently at maintenance and upkeep, and you know what? My sales show it. Pay attention to your Hub. You need to update it often, meaning weekly with new galleries and free sites. Rotate out your banners on a regular basis and constantly look for new things to sell. You never know what will sell; if you are constantly sending traffic to the Hub then your surfers (and therefore tastes) are continually changing and multiplying. What may not have worked a month ago may all of a sudden sell like gangbusters, so keep changing content all the time.
The next thing you need to concentrate on is getting your “PR ranking” up there, so go look for other Hubs or sites that match the niche and market of your Hub. Send emails to the Webmasters of those sites suggesting in a very nice way a hard link exchange. Make sure you have a section on your Hub to handle these links, such as “Our Friends,” and if someone agrees to link to you make sure you treat them fairly. If they put your link on their main page then make sure that you do the same.
Now I need to warn you that not everyone plays fairly. Sometimes people will agree to trade links with you and after a few days they will remove your link from their site resulting in you sending them traffic for nothing; be sure you are checking those link deals on a regular basis. If your link is gone and you want to be certain that it was not just a mistake, send an email to the Webmaster saying you were visiting his or her site and noticed that your link had been removed. Ask if he or she no longer want to trade with you and see what reply you get. If he or she puts your link back online then fine, but if not then simply remove the link on your site and move on. It will do no good to get all pissy over it; people play games and hopefully you will not become one of them. Remember to treat others as you wish to be treated and your reputation will precede you.
It has been a pleasure doing this series and I truly have been so pleased with the emails and the comments on the discussion board. I hope that you all got some good pointers out of this series and I wish you the best in your success with your Hub. If you need advice, would like a review or just want to have a pointer or two, don’t think that because the series is done that I am done as well. Hit me up any time and I will be glad to assist you further. If you would love to have a Hub and just don’t have the time to build or maintain one then hit me up and I will be glad to work with you.
Until my next article, peace out everyone; it has been a pleasure, and for those attending Cybernet, I look forward to meeting you there.
