After several months of kicking around designs and layouts for BitchFlix, we sat down and made a decision to put together a site like no other. We wanted a look and feel that made the surfer “one with the site.” We also wanted to use Flash to excite the surfer, and we wanted to stimulate the auditory senses by using sound.

We wanted a tablespoon of creepy, with ½ a teaspoon of scary, gently folded into a gallon of AWESOME!

The first thing we did was look at all the other fetish sites out there and survey what we liked and didn’t like about them. We dug through thousands of images and found what would work in a dark setting. We stayed up endless nights trying to figure out if we should use music or sound effects for the background audio.

We finally came up with a site that fit the bill. We licensed all the sounds and pictures, and got to work on the flash. We put together a free gallery, assembled an affiliate program (50% sign-up / 20% re-bill), and beta tested the site with some fellow Webmasters and friends. What we found is that we were getting a lot of comments like “This site is scary,” “HOLY SHIT! How did you do that?” and “Oh My God, I LOVE the sound!”

This is exactly what we wanted to hear!

Since the site has been up, it’s been converting very well for us and we feel that we made the right decision with the redesign. We went against the grain on some of the things that we did (i.e. using sound and using frames), however, we’ve compensated for that by making it work in our favor. For example, we’re using meta tags that work well with framed sites, and our site is already listed with the major engines. As far as the sound goes, it works for the site and goes with the style. We also turn off the sound when you enter the members’ area.

We’re also going to be doing a redesign for our main company site MODENA Group, LLC. We hope to utilize some of our past experience in the corporate world and combine it with some of our knowledge in the adult world to create a single site that will be used as our marketing flagship, Webmaster resource center, and online point of sale.
