TGP.com Up For Auction
LONDON — TGP.com has gone on the auction block at eBay.“The domain has fantastic potential for a company that wants to reach the webmasters who generate the majority of pay-site profits,” said owner Sam Sugar. “The key to monetizing the domain is making it a hub for affiliate activities. Anyone with a ‘megasite’ can make immediate use of its simplicity, profile and established traffic.”
According to Sugar, an independent appraisal valued the URL at $1 million. The auction started Sunday afternoon, and by Tuesday morning there were no takers even at the $1 opening price.
Sugar specified a reserve price when he listed the domain, but he’s tight-lipped about what the reserve may be. A reserve price is the minimum bid the seller will accept.
TGP.com currently hosts a blog administered by Sugar. He hopes to wind down that effort as he begins to focus on other projects.
“TGP.com has been a passion, but unless I can manufacture more hours to put into the day, it’s time for it to go to someone who can truly utilize it,” he said.
The auction runs until May 7th at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130218302802.
