Texas Librarians Raise Funds and Awareness with Sexy Calendar
AUSTIN, TX — Say what you will about nerd girls and librarians, the truth is that they have a sensual allure that big boobed and brazen beach bunnies can’t touch. There’s just something super sexy about a saucy woman with a fully functional brain. That’s certainly the philosophy behind the Texas Library Association’s newest fundraising tool: a calendar depicting librarians and their body art.According to librarian Shawne Miksa, who just happens to be the model for November 2010, the calendar is a useful tool for drawing attention to library issues.
Miksa, by the way, sports the Chinese characters for “wisdom” and “desire” on her lower back.
The “Tattooed Ladies of TLA” is an 18-month calendar that follows in the path of the previously successful “Men of Texas Libraries” calendar, which raised $9,000 to help repair libraries damaged by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
This year’s calendar hopes to raise funds to continue repair damage to the state’s libraries. The TLA believes that libraries thrive by promoting diversity and free expression, two things the new calendar clearly represents.
