MONTREAL – People inside the adult industry both love and hate Pornhub — sometimes simultaneously. If once can find nothing else to admire about the company, though, at least he can admit the number-crunchers on staff are devoted to … well, crunching numbers.

Among other things, the most recent batch of statistics from the porn tube site indicate Pornhub enjoyed more than 14.7 billion visits during 2013. Since the total population of Earth stands at about 7.2 billion people, an astounding number of Pornhub fans must be obsessed with whacking off to internet porn. (The other possibility is that the site has attracted a significant following among extraterrestrials.)

Among Pornhub’s global village, the top three search terms during 2013 were teen, MILF and compilation (which displaced anal from 2012’s No. 3 slot). Broken down by country, the top lists varied: Americans searched most for teen, creampie and MILF; Brits for British, Lisa Ann (presumably porn star Lisa Ann) and lesbian, and Mexicans searched for Mexicana, teen and Lisa Ann.

Lisa Ann, it should be noted, is a MILF. The most popular video clip on the tube site, however, came from former Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham’s sex tape.

Also worth noting: 40 percent of Pornhub’s visitors accessed the site on mobile devices, compared to 51 percent on desktop PCs and just 9 percent on tablets. According to Pornhub’s wonks, mobile and tablet use are growing at desktop’s expense: In 2012, 62 percent of the site’s users arrived via desktop computer, while 32 percent surfed over on a mobile platform and 6 percent employed a tablet.
