TAIWAN — In spite of a grand and ancient tradition including highly erotic imagery, those involved with the creation and distribution of such images today often find themselves on the hostile side of the law.Such has certainly proved to be the case for a webmaster only known at this point by the surname of Wu.

Wu, who is believed by authorities to be responsible for the country’s largest adult website, was recently arrested by Taipei City police. The officers content that Wu received erotic images from foreign-based BeCoolBBS and, as a result, was able to accrue 108,000 members to his pay site. Members were able to access additional content via BitTorrent.

Wu’s office was raided by police after they received a search warrant from the Taipei District Court after a month-long investigation into possible obscenity violations. Representatives for the police force expect that Wu will be prosecuted on obscenity charges.
