SugarDVD Expands Streaming Delivery Network
YNOT – SugarDVD has expanded its TV-streaming delivery network with new server points in six North American cities. In addition to adding more servers, the company modified its bandwidth mechanisms to incorporate intelligent route-control technology. A spokesperson said the changes make the service run up to four times faster, meaning customers will experience less buffering time and be able to fast-forward through movies quicker on their Playstation 3s and Roku set-top boxes.
The new server points are Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Phoenix, Seattle, Washington D.C. and Toronto.
“One of the best things about this service is the immediacy of having hundreds of full-length movies ready to go on your TV,” said Rebecca, a spokeswoman for the company. “By expanding our server network, our customers will be able to find things they like quicker than ever.”
SugarDVD offers TV apps for Roku, PS3, Boxee and Google TV devices. Unlimited TV streaming on Roku and PS3 is included with all of SugarDVD’s DVD rental plans at no additional cost. An unlimited streaming-only plan also is available for $7.95 a month. A 10-day free trial is available for new customers.
To help promote its PS3 app, SugarDVD is hosting a cosplay giveaway with Misti Dawn and Aria Aspen. During the giveaway period, gamers vote on which videogame characters they want to see come to life. To date, three photo sets of Dawn and Aspen dressed as game vixens have been posted to the giveaway site, along with behind-the-scenes videos. The contest will conclude March 30 with the giveaway of a Playstation 3D display.
