Study: Vibes Boost Men’s Health
MAARN, NETHERLANDS — Ladies, guard your pocket rockets. A study published in the latest issue of The Journal of Sexual Medicine indicates vibrators can be as good for men’s sexual health as they are for women’s — and just as much fun for him as for her.Frequently recommended by clinicians who treat sexual dysfunction in women, vibes recently have been found also to improve erectile function in men. A 2008 study of more than 1,000 American men aged 18-60 discovered that 44.8-percent of the subjects incorporated a vibrator into their solo or partnered sexual play. Of those men, 10-percent had engaged in vibrator play within the past month and 14.2-percent within the past year. Another 20.5-percent of men admitted they had employed a vibrator during masturbation or intercourse more than one year previously.
More surprising for the researchers was the finding that the men who had experienced vibrator-assisted bliss most recently scored highest on four out of five categories included in the International Index of Erectile Function: orgasmic function, sexual satisfaction, erectile function and sexual desire.
In addition, researchers discovered both men and women who play with vibes are more likely than those who do not to be conscious of their sexual health. Among the health-conscious behaviors researchers uncovered were increased awareness of and participation in genital self-exams.
