Strippers Alleged to Have Crossed Line to Prostitution
DANBURY, CT – The name of the strip club is Wiggles and if claims by police are true, wiggling is the very least of the activities that went on during the Friday night that paper napkins scattered on the floor left what law enforcement officials tactfully refer to as “DNA evidence.”According to authorities, about a dozen exotic dancers at this Shelter Rock Road gentleman’s club either participated in sex acts or propositioned customers for same. Detective Lt. James Fisher of the Special Investigations Division reports that the raid was motivated by complaints from citizens that led the officers into the club, where he contends that activity generally associated with larger cities has somehow found its way into the more humble town during the past year.
Four plain-clothed officers from two different out-of-town agencies entered Wiggles around 8:30pm on a Friday night. As they report it, they had hardly entered the building before women began offering lap dancers, oral sex, and/or exposing themselves while attempting to touch the officers inside their trousers. One investigator claims a woman offered to go to his home if he paid her $200. Each of these activities violates the Connecticut state liquor laws.
Although only six dancers have been charged with prostitution, authorities claim that more could have been arrested had more officers been available, since seven other dancers were engaged in similar activities. The club was temporarily closed when a valid liquor permit was unable to be produced. The club re-opened on Monday, when the permit was located, although it still faces a four-day closure in September due to violations found during a February 2004 inspection when alcohol was served to minors and dancers exposed their genitals and breasts to patrons.
