Still Playful: Badpuppy Turns 119
YNOT – Gay adult mega-site Badpuppy celebrates its 17th birthday May 17. That’s 119 in dog years.
Founded in 1995, Badpuppy is one of the oldest adult websites of any kind and may be the oldest commercial gay website still in operation. That doesn’t mean the site is long in the tooth, however.
“Badpuppy turning 17 is just mind-boggling,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Bill Pinyon. “The longevity and success we’ve continued to enjoy tells me that we’ve done and are still doing what we set out to do when converting the Badpuppy [computer bulletin board system] into the first gay adult membership website online back in May of 1995. I attribute our past, present and continued success to my husband, Steven, and our incredible team, most of whom have been with the company for 14 years or longer.”
According to Marketing & Advertising Manager Lisa Turner, the saying “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” doesn’t apply to Badpuppy. As times and technologies change, the site does an admirable job not only of keeping up, but also of anticipating new consumer whims and evolving to meet them.
“We have always done our best to offer a broad range of content type and model type, and we continue to offer a mountain of diverse content,” she said. “Whatever you’re looking for, you’re sure to find it here. Because our members are introduced to multiple content updates every day and can knowingly count on our support staff, it has always allowed Badpuppy to stand out in a crowd.”
Badpuppy also operates the affiliate program Puppy Cash, which pays $30 per sign-up or 60-percent recurring revenue share across a network encompassing 20 pay sites.
