Chances are, she’ll end up being on top in somewhere in business, and we’re not talking metaphorically!
YNOT: How did you get started in the adult industry?
Soucy: I am 25 years old and started working in the adult business as a model when I was 18. My first contracts were modeling for Club Magazine mostly and I then got to attend a few trade shows representing the models. I was also working as a chat hostess at the time and had been doing that for four years until I started managing the girls in studios.
Next, I got in touch with Mark Prince from 2much.net and LiveCamNetwork, who offered me a position for affiliate support and studio manager as well. I have been doing that until now. I am also accumulating content for my own solo site, but it is difficult to get this going with a full time job on the side.
YNOT: Indeed! Why did you choose to get into the adult industry?
Soucy: I guess like many other things in life, you don’t really get to “choose;” it just happens. I happened to find myself comfortable with the work and the people involved in that industry and it seemed to work for me, so here I am still, after seven years.
Ten years from now, would I say to myself that I wanted to pursue a career in the adult business? I don’t think so. It is a business that is prosperous and where people seem to be pretty laid back.
YNOT: Why did you choose to go from performer to manager?
Soucy: Again, sometimes opportunities come without you asking for them. While I was working as a performer years ago, models seemed to be naturally come to me for anything regarding the job. I found myself helping the new models getting started and then informing them how to increase their conversions. My boss subsequently asked me to train the models, then to recruit them and so on. I always liked doing it and I think I know enough to do it too.
YNOT: What is it you like about the adult industry?
Soucy: I like the way I don’t have to hold back when I communicate with people throughout the industry. There is no taboo subject whatsoever, or at least not to my experience.
I think this phenomenon has to do with the fact that many people in the field are fairly young ; I keep getting surprised talking to the big guys online and realizing that they are just about my age or barely 30. On the other hand, the “older” guys that get into the adult world seem to expect that way of being open-minded, which makes it hard to be judgmental about what another sells or advertise.
YNOT: What don’t you like and how would you like to see it changed?
Soucy: The drama kings and queens. Working in an open minded and young crowd implies no limits to opinions but still, sometimes things can get pretty heated up. I think what I would like to see change for people to think twice before they make statements about a person or a company in the industry, because what they say can cause real damage on the long run. People sometimes tend to talk too fast without even bother knowing what is really going on.
YNOT: What are the biggest misconceptions that people in general have about the industry?
Soucy: That being in the adult industry implies no work but still earning a lot of revenue FAST. You need to work your way to success in the adult like any place else. Another thing that most people think is that most of the models/pornstars/chathostesses are being taken advantage of, that they do not do this by choice and that they are of a lesser class society because of what they do.
YNOT: What’s the best experience you’ve had since being in the adult industry?…
Soucy: The conventions and trade shows always are great experiences. The best one I’ve attended so far was Internext in Florida last August. It was so nice to be in that incredible hotel with only the people from the industry exchanging contacts and discussing projects.
YNOT: And the worst?
Soucy: To be totally honest, I cant really think of anything right now…
YNOT: What makes your site’s content stand out from the crowd? What makes your content truly exciting for your customers?
Soucy: LiveCamNetwork is unlike any other site I have worked with in the past. We focus on the quality of models as well as the technology we use. Even the clientele is different from any site I have seen. I think we apply the community philosophy a lot more and make it more human overall. [And after all] The closer the client feels to the chat hostess, the more they want to come back and stay with us.
YNOT: What do you consider to be the sexiest thing about you?
Soucy: When I feel confident.
YNOT: What would you have to achieve in the industry to consider yourself a complete success?
Soucy: When I will be living comfortably from my work, enough to be secure financially for the rest of my life and have my boss still trusting me in 10 years, I will consider my career a success.
