Sssh.com Wraps ‘DUET,’ a ‘Real-Life Love Story Set to Music’
Sssh.com has announced the official wrap of production on DUET, the latest film from acclaimed director Angie Rowntree. Described as a “heartfelt and intimate story that explores the deep connection between two musicians, a story where music becomes the language of love and fate,” DUET stars Joe Gow and Carmen Wilson, each of whom also had a major role in the creation of the film.
YNOT readers may remember Gow as the former chancellor of the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse who was controversially fired from the position for producing pornography outside of his role at the university.
DUET is written by Wilson, with original music by Gow and lyrics by Angie Rowntree’s husband, Colin. The film’s creators said it “captures the creative collaboration that grew into something deeper” – namely, Joe and Carmen’s real-life relationship.
“As a filmmaker, I’m drawn to stories that come from a place of truth.” Rowntree said. “Working with Joe and Carmen was a wonderful experience. Their performances carry a true authenticity, not just because of their talent, but because this story is theirs. There’s a special kind of magic in storytelling rooted in lived experience, and I’m so proud of what we’ve created together.”
As a guitarist and classically trained pianist, the film’s creators said DUET is “Joe and Carmen’s journey from bandmates to life partners.”
Wilson said it was “a joy to collaborate with Angie Rowntree to create DUET.”
“She encouraged me to write a story that reflected the way Joe and I came together in real life, and then she used her talent of bringing out naturalistic performances from us,” Wilson added. “The resulting production could not be truer to who we really are as a couple.”
Gow echoed his partner, adding that Angie Rowntree is “a pioneer in women’s erotica, so when she invited Carmen and me to be in one of her movies, we were thrilled.”
“The result, DUET, is a deeply intimate depiction of two real people, madly in love,” Gow added, “It’s a very special film, and we are deeply grateful to Angie for using her singular talents to make it that way.”
As the film’s release date approaches, Sssh.com said DUET “promises to be a deeply moving cinematic story – one that will resonate with anyone who has ever felt the profound connection between love and music.”
