Space Porn Must Wait, Thanks to $1 Million Project Rejection
GLASGOW, SCOTLAND — Science fiction great Isaac Asimov once shared his thoughts on what sex in zero gravity might be like – and although science has provided humans with the opportunity to confirm or deny his speculations, Virgin Galactic has rejected the first financed attempt.Virgin Galactic is one of the latest additions to Robert Branson’s ever-growing Virgin Group – and it’s set to literally skyrocket the wealthy into space; something many a working class citizen has fantasized about, perhaps even more regularly than sex in zero gravity.
According to Space.com, an unnamed third party offered Virgin Galactic $1 million in exchange for allowing its representatives to film erotic performers engaging in X-rated activities while escaping from the earth’s gravity.
Although not yet airborne, Virgin Galactic plans to take to the outer atmosphere with its WhiteKnightTwo aircraft in late 2009 or early 2010. Apparently rich space tourists and hard core sex don’t mix, because company president Will Whitehorn assures that world that the offer was rejected.
“That was money we had to refuse, I’m afraid,” he confessed during the International Astronautical Congress held September 30th.
Sierra County, NM will be the launch site for the WhiteKnightTwo, which will climb to an impressive 62 miles before releasing SpaceShipTwo and introducing travelers first-hand to the joys of temporary weightlessness.
The price? A mere $200,000 per person for a two-hour flight that includes approximately five minutes without gravity. So far, $40 million in reservations have been secured from 280 future passengers.
