Siouxsie Q Offering Media Training Course Online Tonight
LOS ANGELES, CA – Writer, media strategist and performer Siouxsie Q is offering a media training course tonight via FanCentro.
Media placement can be a very important way to expand one’s brand and reach. According to Q’s course description, “It costs thousands of dollars to place an ad in a mainstream publication, but if a journalist writes about you — it’s free!”
“The mainstream is hungry for stories from the adult industry, however, journalists and academics have a long history of misrepresenting, or worse, exploiting our voices. This course is designed to prepare adult industry workers for when the media comes calling, and more importantly, how to make sure that they keep calling…for the right reasons,” Q said.
The course will be held today from 6 – 8 pm PST. Those interested may sign up at fancentro.com/sqmediatraining.
“For the first time ever, I’m making my private media training courses available to a larger audience,” she added.
Q is correct in highlighting the mainstream’s long history of misrepresenting and exploiting perspectives given by members of the adult industry and efforts to enhance the community’s media training are commendable. Interestingly, Q herself was accused of exploitation-adjacent behavior — harassment and sex worker shaming — back in August of this year alongside former APAC Director of Outreach Lydia Dupra by sex worker and educator Maxine Holloway.
Q’s media training course will run for two hours. During that time, she’ll cover topics including how to navigate the waters of mainstream media, identifying “safe” journalists, pitching to publications, how to make sure interviews are on your terms, avoiding pitfalls and media manipulations and navigating paid versus unpaid media opportunities.
