Sick of the Constant Abuse The Industry Takes? Support TheWarOnPorn.com
Sick of the constant battles the adult industry is forced to face on a daily basis?
Who isn’t!?
But… there’s only so much complaining you can do before you realize it’s falling on deaf ears and it’s time to do something about it.
Enter… TheWarOnPorn.com.
Launched by the team behind Adult Site Broker – an ethical company which helps creators and businesses sell and buy adult websites – TheWarOnPorn.com puts the industry’s struggle front and center by sharing news that seeks to destroy the industry.
Dedicated to the axiom that “knowledge is power!” the site combs the Internet for the top articles including those from YNOT which magnify the assault on our freedom of speech and the detrimental laws and policies that try to keep us from making a living.
Find out more about why TheWarOnPorn.com is an important weapon in our fight in this interview with Bruce of Adult Site Broker.
What brought you to the industry and how did you get your start?
Greed? LOL. Just kidding. Actually, I wanted a gig where I could work from anywhere. This was about the time that I decided I wanted to live in Thailand at least half the year. In 2010 I made it my full-time home. So, I put a couple of sites up based on my own tastes, an Asian and a Latina site.
They were horrible failures lol. I used preexisting content, had a couple of crooked developers, etc. In short, I did everything wrong. I now actually have a consulting company where I’m constantly saying, “this is the right way, don’t do it like I did it.”
Why did you feel the need to start TheWarOnPorn.com?
Being the Adult Site Broker, I can see how much pain the anti-porn groups and right-wing politicians (not to mention left wing in the case of FOSTA/SESTA) are inflicting on my friends and clients.
There was no good resource where people could see pretty much all that’s going on with the anti-porn movement, what’s happening in the courts and overall, how our adult family is trying to fight back. This site brings all of that together.
It’s primarily for the industry, but I hope people outside adult also see it and realize how fucked up this entire thing is for not only adult, but for free speech around the world.
Also, the financial discrimination is terrible. I’ve felt it. Losing bank accounts. Not being accepted by normal mainstream companies because of my connection to adult. And hell, I’m a broker, not a producer, not a creator or a company that has websites. I know they have it even worse.
How can others get involved with the site, posting for it, or blogging, spreading the word?
All of the above. I actually do all the posts. This avoids spam. But if anyone wants to contribute something unique to the site (like certain industry writers, hint, hint) I’d be happy to accept it. I already use much of your fine work for YNOT on the site).
We now have a Twitter page, @TheWaronPorn. Come to the platform. Share our posts. Retweet. Rinse and repeat.
What are a few of the myths about porn that really bother you that you are trying to debunk?
That there’s something called “porn addiction.”
That porn contributes to sex trafficking.
That porn is somehow harmful.
I mean, when has anyone ever done anything bad after jacking off?
That pornographers are somehow bad people.
That we are all a bunch of child molesters and pedophiles.
I could go on and on.
People outside adult don’t understand adult.
It’s like any other industry from the outside looking in. But we’re probably more misunderstood than any other industry. People also don’t understand this is a business. People’s livelihoods like yours and mine depend on it. So, when they attack it they potentially put good people out of work and harm us financially.
Who do you feel are some of the worst culprits spreading disinformation about porn?
Politicians with their own agendas. The religious right. Organizations like NCOSE and Exodus Cry.
Everyone is trying to make money off attacking us and they’re largely winning.
Very few politicians have the guts to even listen to us.
Alison Boden and the fine people at the Free Speech Coalition have actually gotten some to listen and god bless them for that. The work they do is incredible. I support it through my business Adult Site Broker, and I think everyone else should as well.
Do you have any advice on how people in the industry can do their part and help to combat it in addition to reading your site?
That’s a good start. Information is power as you well know.
Support the FSC, ASACP, the Woodhull Freedom Foundation and others who are trying to help our cause.
Tell your friends outside of adult about how these people are trying to destroy your livelihood and those of your colleagues and friends. Vote only for politicians who stand for supporting the First Amendment. Check their voting records. If they have done anything to attack the industry in the form of supporting age verification laws, anti-porn legislation or anti Section 230 legislation vote against them and tell your friends to do the same, both directly and through social media.
What are your goals for the site?
To spread the word about how terrible this situation is and the fact that it’s never been as bad as it is in my lifetime. And if we don’t put a stop to it then it will only get worse.
