Shauna Sand to Fight Vivid Over Sex Tape
LOS ANGELES – Playboy Playmate and actor Lorenzo Lamas’ ex-wife Shauna Sand readily admits she and a boyfriend made several sex tapes. However, she equally fervently avows, none of them were for public consumption.“Yes, I did make a sex tape with my boyfriend earlier this year,” Sand, 38 and the mother of three Lamas kids, told TMZ.com. “In fact, I’ve made several sex tapes, but I certainly didn’t sign off on this and Vivid has no right to put it out.”
Vivid Entertainment plans to release the explicit footage Oct. 19, and co-founder Steven Hirsch said he feels confident his company has every right to do so. Vivid already has launched a teaser Web page featuring clips of Sand and the unidentified paramour.
“We were approached by a third party who brought us footage of Shauna having sex with her current boyfriend, and we were immediately interested in acquiring it,” Hirsch told CBS affiliate WIAT. “We’re comfortable with our legal position in releasing this footage.”
Sand indicated she plans to take legal action to prevent the video’s release without her permission.
The Lamas family reportedly has reacted with varying degrees of irritability. According to TMZ, Sand calmed down Lorenzo Lamas and made him sign a statement foreswearing any child-custody action based on the tape.
“I, Lorenzo Lamas, will not seek custody of my minor children with Shauna Sand,” TMZ reported the signed statement reads. “Even in the event of a release of a sex tape with her and her boyfriend.”
Shayne Lamas, Lorenzo’s elder daughter by a different mother, indicated she believes the tape’s sudden appearance was a calculated move. She took some very public swipes at her former stepmother.
“Isn’t that convenient that her tape just happened to be leaked the day after my show premiered?” Shayne Lamas asked a TMZ reporter. “I just feel bad for my little sisters.”
Shayne Lamas’ new reality series, Leave it to Lamas, debuted Sunday on E! The actress previously was the recipient of Matt Grant’s final rose on The Bachelor: London Calling. The couple called off their reality TV-inspired engagement in June 2008, one month after the show’s season finale.
What many in the adult industry want to know is, how could Vivid release any explicit sex tape without the 2257 documentation U.S. law requires be maintained on all of the participants? Hm. Perhaps someone — or both someones — doth protest too much.
