Sharp Eyed Dancers Uncover Counterfeiter
SMYRNA, TN — Say what you will about the authenticity of an exotic dancer’s affections or breasts; the saucy entertainers know real money when they see it – and they know a fake when it lands in their hands, as well.Immediately after tax day this year, a number of performers at the Nashville Déjà vu noticed that the money they were being handed for their dances looked a little funny – and they were right.
Damon Armagost likely isn’t laughing, however, seeing as he was found guilty of using his computer to make fake $100 in order to fuel his love for lap dances.
Convicted of federal counterfeiting charges, Armagost handed out $600 worth of bogus bills on April 16th, when his jig became officially up. When dancers became suspicious, authorities were called and Armagost was questioned about his wealth. His story at the time was that he had come into the cash after having sold an assortment of gold coins for $1,400 to someone he didn’t know and couldn’t locate again.
After having his Smyrna, TN home searched and a family member admit that the image of a $100 bill had been seen on one of the residence’s computers, Armagost came clean with the truth, admitting that he had downloaded the image and printed out 14 bills. Later, U.S. Secret Service agents were able to match serial numbers on counterfeit Franklins found in other parts of the country.
Having pled guilty to manufacturing and passing counterfeit currency this past Friday, Armagost will be sentenced on November 5th.
