Shakespeare Cigars Looks to Make a Splash
CYBERSPACE – According to Scott Shakespeare, cigars are an “adult pleasure.” But does that translate to adult dollars?Shakespeare’s Cigar Company has launched a special promotion designed to increase new affiliates who market the company’s line of popular cigars on their adult or mainstream websites. Through April 30th, all new affiliates will receive a 50% commission on sales, meaning affiliates will earn more than $80 for each sale of a box of cigars.
According to Shakespeare, cigars and the adult entertainment industry make a good match.
“The size and marketing ability of the adult industry is exceptional,” said Shakespeare. “So much opportunity is available within both the traffic generation for awareness, and the revenue opportunities that are generated from that traffic. Mainstream traffic and adult traffic are the same surfers, but in regards to the adult side, the sexual content lures a much more overall “alert” individual, with his or her eyes all over the page looking for what attracts them. Obviously, if you’re a cigar smoker, and in the middle of your eyes examining the wonderful nakedness, or fetish, or gayety, any of the adult genres that exist in the industry, then the cigar ad itself will stand out like a bright light in the middle of darkness.”
Regarding the 50% payout promotion, Shakespeare says that makes good business sense.
“Simply stated, we are a young cigar company of three years,” said Shakespeare. “We do not have a lot of large distribution companies out there to piss off. Distribution companies want the money, and product control from manufactures, the internet as a whole provides another way. So, we are able to retain our retail pricing, which supports or retail stores (brick and mortar) and give the distribution dollars to the webmasters. Awareness, product sales, it works.”
The name “Shakespeare Cigar Company” wasn’t created just for marketing purposes. The company was incorporated a few years ago by Robert “Shakey” Shakespeare and his son, Scott Shakespeare.
“I saw my dad diminishing in some of his abilities,” said Scott Shakespeare. “I saw him getting old, and I didn’t want him to get old from boredom, or any physical inability. My dad’s mind is still sharp as a tack. His favorite pastime for decades has been his passion for smoking quality cigars.”
Shakespeare said the decision to start a cigar company partly stemmed from frustration with the current offerings.
“Since we can’t seem to find the quality smoke that we both envisioned, why don’t we start our own cigar manufacturing company?” added Shakespeare. “We knew it would be hard work, and a great expense, but we have the knowledge of the markets, and we know the quality of blend we need. Now we have to blend, to search, and to create our perfection in a cigar that we would smoke, and stand behind. We have the understanding of the need for consistent, high quality manufacturing, and just maybe, other people would find our choice of blend, to be their choice.”
According to the company, cigar sales are expected to increase by as much as 45% as the weather continues to grow warmer. Shakespeare expects the affiliate model to grow as the company grows.
“We have been in the affiliate program side for a little over 6 weeks now, and boy, do we see the difference,” said Shakespeare. “Mainstream arenas for cigars still have the heavy hand of large distributor overhead. Shakespeare Cigars are, to our knowledge, the only cigar manufacturer whose operation is 80% online. Wholesale, and our own distribution sector, will be added in the months to come making Shakespeare Cigars the only 100% online cigar company worldwide.”
