FLEET, ENGLAND — A survey conducted by an independent online travel agency found that 74-percent of British couples have sex at least once every other day while on vacation. In comparison, just 19-percent of couples admitted to having sex that often at home.Couples on vacation are nearly four times more likely to engage in sexual activity with each other than when at home according, according to the survey of 1,489 people. Nearly half the respondents, 46-percent, admitted to having sex with their partner once a day or more during time away, while just 21-percent claimed to have sex three times a week or more when not on holiday.

“Going on holiday with your partner is a great way to become closer, as these stats prove,” said Chris Brown, managing director of Sunshine.co.uk, the travel site that commissioned the survey.

The survey classified 32-percent of British adults “as low sexual frequency practitioners” (those who have sex less often than once a month), 44-percent as “medium sexual frequency practitioners” (between once monthly and twice weekly) and 19-percent as “high sexual frequency practitioners” (three times a week or more). The results indicate that for many Brits, going on vacation dramatically changes their sex life, if only for the period of time they are away from home.

The reasons for the difference in behavior fell into five primary categories: less stress (61-percent), more time together (43-percent), nice weather/atmosphere (32-percent), “not as tired” (25-percent) and increased alcohol consumption (16-percent).

Interestingly, the vacation destination didn’t figure into the sex equation for most respondents: 63-percent reported it didn’t matter where they went as long as they “got away” from their normal routines.

“The fact that ‘less stress’ is mentioned as the primary reason couples feel closer to each other shows what a tough time we’re all having at the minute,” Brown said. “Time away together is the perfect way to escape it all, even if only for a few days somewhere within the country.”
